by police against African Americans. Who knows how many occurred that we haven't heard about.
It is an outrage that killings like this continue, while nothing seems to be done to stop them. To add insult to injury, the people who are murdering these African Americans are getting off, in spite of conclusive witness and videos showing cold blooded murder.
Instead of investigating Benghazi and other political bullshit, this is what Congress should be investigating, clear violations of Civil Rights.

(92,526 posts)means something isn't being done.
In fact this recent case presented before the Supreme Court only will contribute to these abuses. As justice Sotomayor commented:
Do not be soothed by the opinions technical language, she wrote. This case allows the police to stop you on the street, demand your identification, and check it for outstanding traffic warrants even if you are doing nothing wrong.
If the officer discovers a warrant for a fine you forgot to pay, she continued, courts will now excuse his illegal stop and will admit into evidence anything he happens to find by searching you after arresting you on the warrant.
In many communities, she said, the tactics the court endorsed will allow the police to search people almost at will. It is no secret that people of color are disproportionate victims of this type of scrutiny, she wrote.

(18,648 posts)For every video we see there must be many similar killings that never see the light of day.
It's just sickening.
And once more -- guns.
The bane of America.

(6,342 posts)The Supreme Court for example, tends to side with the police. When it comes to the police/government vs our rights....the government is given leeway.
Juries and judges tend to side with the police.
No one in our government, in either political party, seems to suggest any real solutions concerning the power and aggressiveness of the police. That's not surprising. Government are usually VERY poor when it comes to policing itself.
