If you want black people to be treated the same way as white people, stand.

If you feel a sense of responsibility about the way society treats black people, stand.

If you feel powerless to change the way society treats black people, stand.

I'm interested in the entire discussion she's having with that audience. If I find it, I'll post it.

For most of us here on DU, being in this audience would induce no revelation. We already know and acknowledge that being black in American is tough.

But there are so many people who deny this reality. It's those people who would likely be stunned by their own reaction to this - who would have two opposing ideas that they would have to reconcile in their minds.

She should walk into a Trump rally and say this - lol.

For me, this video drove it even further home. I would definitely not stand up and that makes me question whether just acknowledging the truth of that is enough--I mean, I know we can all do more but wow, for some reason this clip really impacted me.

5 yrs, I have learned so fuckin much. Listen, process, discuss. I think it is you that gave me a very profound thought, so thank you. It has been about three years now. That is what I value on this board.

You stated, then explained, why women do not have rape fantasies. It was such an incite to me, that opened up so many other doors. I thank you for that.

Tough being a minority which has accumulated unfavorable stereotypes.

Privilege is being in a group with favorable stereotypes.

very real "ism" we live. It is only one step away. Or as I see it, a stepping stone to the next level.

Don't cut off a limb, or just put a bandage on the worse. Get to the source of the cancer. No stepping stones to the most extreme.

With the gun culture, and the racism culture now allows thru out our society, in many ways, especially the legal system, we just create more and more stepping stones to murdering black men.

Interesting. Thanks for putting that out.

you could see how it is interpreted. And the right thing to do could be to interpret what she said as equality in which case it would be better to stand.
