Then Dallas Sniper Micah Xavier Johnson Started Shooting.
Micah Xavier Johnson, the now-notorious Dallas cop-killer, was one of a handful of online fans of a group which proclaimed, we must kill white police officers across the country!
Shortly after 10 p.m. on Thursday night, when Micah Xavier Johnson shot and killed five Dallas police officers and wounded nine others, Mauricelm-Lei Millere, founder of the African American Defense League hate group, posted a picture on his Instagram account.
The caption led with this: We have no alternative! We must kill white police officers across the country!

More info:
The AADLs calls to kill white police officers are not new. In November of 2015, the AADLs Facebook page said every black person across this nation should find a white police to kill in every state and American/European province around the globe.
Should this group be designated a terrorist organization?
SickOfTheOnePct
(7,290 posts)I would say no.
But I would say that the Dallas shootings were an act of terrorism.
HipChick
(25,485 posts)as per the article, just a one-man organization..

(58,724 posts)It seems to be a small group with this one hateful person doing most of the propaganda.

(58,724 posts)Liking a FB page is obviously not the same as committing a crime. I have no idea why you would think I was suggesting otherwise.

(35,098 posts)Then calling this group "terrorist" would only go to show that "terrorism" is something the minority or the outgroup does.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)I guess "hate group" is sufficient.
The question is asked because people have called the shooting yesterday a domestic terrorist incident, and it seems that this group's ideology was the inspiration, at least in part.
HipChick
(25,485 posts)was the decades long of treatment of blacks by police officers...none of which is new
You seem to infer the killer needed to be taught what to think...he did not....as a black male, he prob lived it
Another clear example of whites not getting it..

(58,724 posts)Maybe read his manifesto? It's available on NPR's website.

(58,724 posts)This is not something that 99.999 percent of people are inspired to do, no matter what their experiences may have been.
Are you familiar with the Black Lives Matter movement?
They advocate for dignity, justice, and respect.
To quote their most recent statement:
"Black activists have raised the call for an end to violence, not an escalation of it."
This AADL group stands for the opposite of that - which is why they are such a minuscule group.

(7,290 posts)Calling for the murder of white cops is OK, calling for the murder of whites in general is not.
Hate groups hate and call for the injury/attack/murder of members of a distinct group of people, in this case, white cops.

(35,360 posts)this reeks of hate
MousePlayingDaffodil
(748 posts). . . in some minds, police officers aren't considered to be people if they are white.
That's a dangerous road to go down, deciding for oneself who does, and doesn't, warrant consideration as a person. And it's something of an ironic road to walk, too, under the circumstances.
HipChick
(25,485 posts)if they are black...
SickOfTheOnePct
(7,290 posts)that point in any way, shape or form. Of course black people are human.
But saying that a group calling for the murder of white cops isn't a hate group is unfathomable to me.
Would you consider a group calling for the murder of black cops or Hispanic cops or Muslim cops a hate group? I know I would.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)They call for the killing of all white police officers.

I guess all white cops aren't people in your fairyland.
The AADLs calls to kill white police officers are not new. In November of 2015, the AADLs Facebook page said every black person across this nation should find a white police to kill in every state and American/European province around the globe.

That is hate, hate of an entire group.
To deny it is the same as denying there was a Holocaust.

This nutcase black group is calling for the killing of *ALL* white cops.
You're in a hole. Stop digging.

(45,319 posts)and thus far this seems to be an extremist and not a hate group. Of course such statistics are always murky as members of very nasty organizations do not generally make themselves known.

(35,098 posts)Calling for "Second amendment solutions?" That doesn't sound like violence, it needs to be 'explicit'.
