Didn't recall the reporters name. He said to the President that he was the first two-term President in U.S. History to have been at war his entire time in office.
Wow. Still processing that one.
Initially I want to say thanks Shrub and Cheney.

(12,906 posts)of not wanting to be the President who lost (fill in the country). That dynamic has been in play since China in 1949. As a consequence Presidents will pass along the legacy of war. The President has tried to get out of Iraq and has been hammered for it by the Reich Wing with the false narrative of his withdrawal leading to ISIS.

(53,410 posts)It was more than excellent. As a matter of fact his entire statements and openness to the questions and answers to the press were beyond good.
It made me think that Barack Obama is definitely playing 3 dimensional chess.

(10,857 posts)One can also argue that every President since Eisenhower has been at war with North Korea for every day of their service.
Similarly, every President from George Washington through U.S. Grant was in a shooting war with one or more American Indian tribes, pretty much at all times. Some of those tribes never declared a cessation of hostilities.
Then there are the numerous military presences in foreign countries, notably Germany, Japan, and South Korea, which are de facto continuations of prior conflicts.
There may not be a day in American history when we were not technically or effectively at war with someone.
