My daughter shared a friend's Facebook post. This gentleman once worked in the State Attorney General's office. The first few paragraphs are below:
<I started driving 16 years ago. In that time, I've gotten 5 tickets. I've been pulled over more than 30 times. In the summer of 2001, I worked at a restaurant. That summer, Police pulled me over so many times that I actually built it into my commute so I wouldn't be late for work. I made sure to wear my uniform. I made sure to wear my name tag. I even got pulled over by the same cops a couple times. I'd even switch between two different routes. That would normally buy me a couple days.
I've been verbally abused by cops. I've been asked ridiculous and confusing questions. I've been pulled out of cars. I've been sat on the curb and I've been held for way too long. I've had so much shit happen that sometimes I remember things that I forgot. To be fair, I've had cops pull me over for speeding and let me go - but that doesn't mean I shouldn't feel some type of way about an officer pulling his gun on me at 19. Mind you, I've never once resisted arrest or refused to comply, but this stuff still happened to me.
I base my opinion of law enforcement on personal experience, so I refuse to acknowledge your skepticism. The spooky stories, doctored images, and shady journalism you consume to fuel your denial may make you feel better, but it doesn't erase these things from my experience. What you've heard doesn't invalidate what I've experienced.>

(6,133 posts)when so many testimonials are out there, no matter how much proof is obvious in the videos, that so much of the white population cannot believe there is a huge problem. They are incapable of believing black people, who live through this shit daily, might be right.
That is fixed, there is nothing to learn, no need to listen, because their white experience makes it so.
That is systemic racism.

At 1:06 he mentions one he considers especially stupid: "looking at me in a funny way." But in 2013 a 14-year-old black kid was taken down and choked by cops while carrying his puppy on a beach because the cop felt the teen was giving him "dehumanizing stares":

Everyone remembers this, I am sure...
