Gov. Rick Scott purged from Florida voter list (if only)
Florida Gov. Rick Scott has been removed from his states voter rolls and might be unable cast a ballot in the November presidential election. Scott has been pressing county election officials to remove thousands of registered voters from their databanks based on information from the Florida Secretary of State that has proven to be inaccurate.
Gov. Scott has demanded we keep people from voting and his name was on the list I got from the state so I really had no choice but to remove his name. He was given ample opportunity to prove his U.S. citizenship but failed to do so, said Jennifer Johnson, Collier Countys supervisor of elections. We sent a letter to the governor but he didnt respond within the required timeframe.
Scotts voter registration purge is seen by many as an attempt to keep Democrats from voting in November. The Miami Herald reported the purge overwhelmingly targets minority and Democratic voters. Nearly 60 percent of those on the purge list were Latino, even though they make up only 13 percent of the states electorate.
