If youve seen NYC restaurant Black Taps extreme milkshakes, then you know that you can just put anything in a milkshake and no can stop you.
The rules of milkshakes and physics no longer exist.
This summer Black Tap and Magnolia Bakery created a special milkshake for Magnolias 20th birthday.
Its a vanilla milkshake with a frosted rim, sprinkles, a skewer of mini cupcakes, and a whoopee pie.
Ive never felt comfortable using the term whoopie pie but thats what its called.
I think sugar is pretty good so I went to try it. Ive seen these intense milkshakes beforeand while I love dessert more than anyonethey always seemed like a little bit of a logistical nightmare.

(45,251 posts)A side of really great fries, if I am really starving at the moment, is about as complicated as I want my shake.

(89,290 posts)there are places which focus on looks and being extravagant but it's nothing special when you try it.
and there are places where something looks like just plain ice cream but the quality is really good so would be willing to pay m ore for it than the fancy looking but not so special thing.
it's like this Crumbs cupcakes place which had cupcakes that looked really fun and good but did not really taste that good at all. that is what the pics in the OP reminded me of.

(11,370 posts)... but would be a really big mess to eat.
Then again, I prefer floats to milkshakes anyway.

(12,431 posts)My friends and I go out to dinner and at the end of the meal order one dessert and four spoons. Even then, often it doesn't all get eaten. One, two bites is perfect.

(61,721 posts)For example, I prefer my cheesecake either plain or with only cherry or blueberry or strawberry compote, not chocolate, and or caramel, or crushed candy, etc. I like the balancing of rich with fruity.
And there are parts of the whole I don't like, like milk duds, soggy cake or donuts, etc.
But the first one is very, very pretty.
