Remember when DU focused activism in support of Knight-Ridder reporters Landay, Strobel, Walcott?

Robert Reiner is making a movie about their efforts as investigative reporters for Knight-Ridder stripping away the lies being repeated by Bush-Cheney and their Iraq War Group during that time.

I wonder if we'll get referenced?

We were certainly all over CSpan and the internet supporting their efforts to get the truth out on cooked Iraq intel and the Downing Street memos. Few were. We were. One of DU's finest efforts, imo.

The film is called Shock and Awe.

http://deadline.com/2016/07/tommy-lee-jones-alec-baldwin-milla-jovovich-in-talks-for-rob-reiners-shock-and-awe-1201786392/

EXCLUSIVE: In what is shaping up to be a killer lineup, Tommy Lee Jones, Alec Baldwin and Milla Jovovich are in talks to board Rob Reiner’s Iraq War pic Shock and Awe. If deals make with all three, they will join Woody Harrelson and James Marsden; Deadline broke the news of the latter’s involvement earlier this week.

Written by Reiner’s LBJ screenwriter Joey Hartstone, which also starred Harrelson, the politically-charged project centers around a group of journalists who asked the tough questions about Saddam Hussein’s alleged WMD’s (weapons of mass destruction) which was the way the Bush administration sold the Iraq War to the American public and around the world in 2003.

The pic follows Knight-Ridder reporters Jonathan Landay and Warren Strobel, who after the events of 9/11, meet with their bureau chief John Walcott to get to the bottom of who was responsible. They find their sources telling them the Bush Administration is trying to tie Saddam Hussein to the terror attacks, even though there is no evidence to support the claim. As the push for war in Iraq increases, they bring in legendary reporter Joe Galloway to give them the high-level sources to help counter the false narrative of Hussein, al-Qaeda and WMDs. They find themselves one of the only media sources running stories countering the prevailing narrative. In the end, Iraq is invaded and their reporting is proven true. >>>>

that is the focus of the movie and this thread.

You should start another thread that focuses on you and not those reporters who uncovered the cooking of the Iraq intel books.

Better to believe the popular narrative that everyone shared equally in the guilt, even those who believed they were being shown actual, top-secret 'evidence'.

After all these years, I stillz lovzya, Scubz, but, you should know I don't fall for 'narratives' from any corner that reduce everything to black and white - I am a firm believer in CONTEXT.

To hell with those guys. They don't count and you should start your own thread condemning their work as unnecessary because everyone knew the CIA's 'classified' evidence being shown to other world leaders and to congress was a lie.

I didn't remember that episode. I think I read one of their big articles in Newsday. Printed many copies and with my mother we distributed it at a peace table at the local Farmer's Market. (*Sigh, oh how I miss her.*)

Side note: I met the late Raindog as a result. Later that day at DU someone posted: Look what someone was handing out at the local farmers market! - I responded with a PM asking her where she was because that might have been me (and it was.) (*Sigh, I miss her, too.*)
