1. Melania herself said she wrote it (with just a little help)

Is everyone tip-toeing around that? Someone is lying.

3. She said she wrote the speech "with just a little help."

Whose help? What did that help consist of? Did Melania get Michelle's words off the Internet and stick them in the speech or did her helper do that? Somebody's lying, for sure.

Doesn't really like her, supposedly. And, supposedly Melania was mad at family for forcing Pence on her husband. Na, doubtful.

If they were Reagan speechwriters who helped, maybe they said, here's some of the former first lady speeches - read them and get a feel for the tone. And, maybe you can plagiarize in Slovenia? But then the Trump people probably said "ok Reagan people, get the hell out of here - we'll take it from here." and then no one smart enough to check it out.

4. But before the speech they explicitly said she was working with a speechwriter.

It seems backwards to me.

If they wanted a scape goat, blame the speechwriter afterwards. It seems like they're throwing her under the bus. Or maybe she's throwing herself under the bus.

Unless they think people will think, "Oh she's pretty so I don't care that she plagiarized a speech"

5. I think your last line roughly sums it up for Trump Republicans...

A few might cringe, but realistically look at who they're supporting - if they can accept consistent pathological lying from the candidate himself, this is nothing.

And, the fact that she is indeed attractive probably lent itself to the idea that most Republican men didn't hear a word she said anyway.

According to my Facebook feed, The speechwriter hired to work with her is secretly a Democrat and did this to sabotage her!

Smh.

Either she was lying or she is as delusional as her husband.

Melania's part starts about 1:00.

7. Did Melania show up on the "Today Show" this morning?

Or was she a no-show?

I noticed at the end of the video segmant, Lauer said she would be a guest on Today the day after her speech.

Appearance for the day after the speech.

Guess getting caught at plagiarism doesn't lead to the triumphal day after parade they likely thought they'd have.

13. On one level I feel sorry for Melania - she is not capable of doing a good speech

On a whole other level, I don't give a shit what she catches from supporting Trump in his delusions. She married the asshole, she's stayed with him, she agreed to do these appearances. It was her choice and she has to deal with it on her own.
