The defense needs to rest their case. After day 2, Sandusky may be put under the jail.

On the second day of the Sandusky trial, the Penn State whistleblower gave a horrifying account of alleged abuse. But it was a teenage accuser who riveted the jury. Diane Dimond reports.
<snip>
When the witness stepped into the courtroom today, the second day of the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse trial, observers knew immediately he was an emotionally wrought teen. He is short in stature, with the slim build of a track athlete. He walks with stiff, rounded shoulders and talks with his chin down, eyes looking up warily through his lashes.
<snip>
As the boy struggled to answer questions about his almost three-year long relationship with Sandusky, the defendant sat just a few feet away with a sort of odd, beatific-looking permanent grin on his face, his chin resting on his bent knuckles, his gaze riveted on the teen in the witness box.

“He would kiss me on the forehead at night, then kiss me on the cheek, then he’d be rubbing my back, cracking my back,” he said, all the while looking down at his folded hands. After another big gulp of air he added, “He did’t really say much...he’d roll over on top of me, then roll me over on top of him.”
<snip>
The teen shook his head, squeezed his lips tight and said, “He ... he ... he put his mouth on my privates. I spaced. I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t say anything. I froze.” And as the witness began to openly weep, his sobs filled the stock-still courtroom.

When he recovered, he told the jury that there came a time when Sandusky “looked at me and said, ‘It’s your turn,’ and he made me ...” The tears flowed again and the young man lifted the tail of his checkered shirt to wipe them away. He struggled to finish the thought and finally said, “He made me put my mouth on his privates.”

The jury matron stepped forward to hand a tissue to the young witness, which he immediately used to cover his face and his racking sobs.

After reading the description of Sandusky, I think he is enjoying this in a twisted way.

Every sob dug the hole deeper. That kind of emotion cannot be feigned. Then Amendola badgers him about changing the number of times the abuse happened. He made him cry even harder. That's really a good strategy.

McQueary's testimony was last, and he was forceful and articulate. They may recommend the death penalty after more survivors testify. Unless there is at least one juror who is from another dimension, Sandusky beyond toast. Can you Say charcoal?

It's not like he's ever going to get out of jail either way before he dies.

I can't help but think it gives some sort of sick pleasure to have all that replayed over and over in court so he can re-live it again.

a sick and disgusting pleasure in hearing his victims relate what he did to him. It reminds me of the stories of serial killers re-visiting the bodies of their victims in order to feel the 'pleasure' again that they felt at the time of the murders.

Given how many boys he helped though his charity foundation...Boys who had messed up situations at home, fatherless boys who were so desperate to have that positive male role model in their lives which most of us take for granted...

These were the most vulnerable of victims, and Sandusky lured them in, showered them with gifts and attention, and struck right when they were at their most trusting...This man's head is twisted beyond the scope of pederasty, this person must be the devil incarnate...

He's 68, so even a relatively lenient sentence of ~10 years is pretty close to a life sentence. He has very little to lose by gambling on the long shot of winning at least a hung jury.

People like Sandusky are quite good at hiding who they really are, especially from people who have no reason to suspect him. It might be more difficult if he was raping his children or grandchildren, but evidently he had plenty of boys outside to commit sex crimes on.

And the only thing she could do would be to suspect, in which case she would need some kind of evidence and who would tell her? If she did suspect she would have to ask him and he would obviously deny it easily. Hell! He's still denying it now in spite of this overwhelming evidence.

I feel very sorry for his family. This has got to be the most devastating thing that could happen to them. Imagine being Sandusky's kid. Or grandkid. He's fucked up a lot of lives, especially those lives belonging to the one's he supposedly loves.

"On cross-examination, defense attorney Joe Amendola got the witness to admit he had told different versions of the story over the years. The witness explained that he had been “just a kid” and had left out details out of embarrassment.

“Did either you or your mother ever tell people you were going to wind up with a big house and cars as a result of this case?” Amendola asked the witness, who grew up in public housing."

Especially with 8 of the jurors involved with Penn State in one way or another, any juror whatsoever sympathetic with Sandusky or Penn State can use that as an excuse to rationalize all that away

...and if the defense does that to every witness

the number of time he was abused. His basic story hasn't changed.

Amendola is going to ask every victim some version of telling people they would get a lot of money. He will do this even if there was no evidence of it whatsoever.

I think that how the jury feels about them and how believeable they are will mitigate a lot of factors. He is chipping away at the edges, but he has yet to shake the core of the stories.

McQueary's testimony was brutal to Sandusky, and the sobbing of the second witness will be a sound they hear forever.
