US Rep. Allen West hopes new home helps him stay in House

U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation, hopes his new house will help him stay in the U.S. House.

He's been a resident of Palm Beach Gardens since June 1, West said Monday.

In response to a question at a town hall meeting in Dania Beach, he disclosed that he's moved. He also decried government spending, supported Gov. Rick Scott's attempt to purge the voter rolls of alleged non-citizens, and warned high unemployment among black teens could help lead to a lost generation.

West was elected to represent the Broward-Palm Beach county 22nd Congressional District in 2010 even though he's never lived there. Since moving to South Florida in 2003, he's actually been a constituent of his political nemesis, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston.
