In most places police are not paid very much money

When a person is willing to put their life on the line every day for not very much money that person is probably either:

1) terrifically dedicated to helping and protecting his fellow man, or

2) really excited about being able to wear a uniform and drive fast and give commands and harass and taser and shoot people

The truth is, as is so often the case, a mix of the two.

The profession includes some of the best people and some of the worst people our society has to offer.

instead of paying the Police officers more, they are allowed to use their cars as personal vehicles as long as they stay in the general area. The town even pays for Gas. Its a pretty good deal in my opinion.
