so to speak. He wanted to give Trevor the limelight for an election season.
He wanted to get out of the rat race and live with the animals. All admirable, for sure.
BUT, surely someone who dedicated so many years to political satire has GOT to be so regretful? No?
The seeming demise of Fox...the comedian's gift from the gods - Donald J Trump - would have been the climax of his career.
And, for us, there's a big hole with him not here to enjoy all this with us.
Would love to see CNN (remember the swing voters watch!) sign him up today - for a limited engagement - to do a re-engineered Larry King Show.

(13,340 posts)But he cannot possibly hold a candle to a Stewart/Colbert tag team. Just impossible. And we need them.

(42,770 posts)he just isn't close enough to US politics, IMHO. And, his cadence seems to be very offputting? I love Larry Wilmore. Just wish he hadn't turned so many people off at the Correspondent's Dinner - way too overtly mean to people. He could have really taken his show to new heights.

(13,340 posts)...and I'm not sure why. I really like him, but I'm kinda "meh" on his show.

(26,877 posts)It's just that it's against the re-engineered Colbert Report, which, by re-engineering, I mean it had a hearty helping of Dave in it. A new juggernaut.

(47,778 posts)but I don't care for the panel in the last segment. I often fast-forward through it as people tend to talk over each other. Some of the humor is outstanding, but some is a bit sophomoric.

(13,340 posts)I have a hard time finishing his show, and you're right. It's that panel. I hope he tweaks it. He's a talent.

(47,778 posts)most episodes had two panel segments. Evidently someone realized that wasn't working. I'd like to see more like the first segment. Yes, Wilmore is really a talent and I'd rather see more of him than three or four people having a random conversation. The occasional "Nightly, Nightly" segments are absolutely stupid and painful to watch.

(7,540 posts)And I was actually impressed! I know it took a while for Stewart to find his groove after everyone said he'd never replace Craig Kilborn.

(65,616 posts)He could jump right back into it if he wanted to imo.
That reminded me how much I miss him. I think Trevor Noah is doing a great job, but Stewart is a tough act to follow.
