So,the big discussion in The dallas morning News is comparing Holder and Gonzales

http://dallasmorningviewsblog.dallasnews.com/2012/06/john-cornyns-double-standard-or-politics-as-usual.html/

"When Sen. John Cornyn angrily demanded the resignation of Attorney General Eric Holder yesterday, the second thing that came to mind was: I wonder what he had to say back when Alberto Gonzales got into deep trouble for politicizing the Justice Department? How quick was he on the draw then?

Since words uttered are forever preserved in the amber of the internet, we have Cornyn’s assessment of Gonzales back in 2007, when many were calling for him to resign, with very good reason. Here they are, courtesy of this:

The American people deserve and demand bipartisan action on the many important issues facing our country today. It is my hope that the poisonous and partisan atmosphere that has surrounded this Congress will be lifted and my Democratic colleagues will work with Republicans in the best interests of the American people.

Doesn’t sound like Cornyn objected at all to what Gonzales did at Justice, which by spring of that year had been pretty much proven. In fact, you would be safe to conclude that he was standing shoulder to shoulder with his fellow Texan."

You can be sure,I commented. What amazed me were the number of DMN readers who called for Holder to be tried and hung.I commented on that, too.
