Joe Lieberman says we need special prosecutor for the "leaks" investigation...

That one of the US Attorneys actually donated money to the Obama campaign and cannot do an honest investigation without the appearance of bias. Therefore, we should have a special prosecutor.

Once again, Joe Lieberman is doing his best to stick it to the Democrats. When will he be gone?

And they likely always have leaked.

Sheesh, Joe. You really are delving into some genuine douche baggery here.

Unfortunately, he'll still be sticking it to Dems, even after he's gone. No doubt he's already lined up a Faux News contract.

5. Joe Lieberman aside, I find the notion that there is an appearance of bias hard to argue against.

Put this shoe on the other foot and tell me you wouldn't agree.

But these aren't just every day, garden variety leaks - leaking classified information is big time trouble. Ask Bradley Manning.

Even the appearance of conflict of interest should be avoided, no matter which party is in the WH.

9. And we are to assume a special prosecutor has no political biases?

Since he will probably be a Republican?

11. The only assumption I'm making here is that asking someone who has donated to your campaign

to then investigate you has more than a little stink associated with it, especially if that person has political ambitions of his/her own.

Are all special prosecutors republican? I don't understand that part.

6. There can be NO special prosecutor

The special prosecutor law expired and has never been renewed, which is why there was never any special prosecutor over any of the Bush crap.

8. True, but there can be a special counsel

Just like the one that was appointed to investigate the Valerie Plame leaks.

12. Not sure on the specifics between special prosecutor and special counsel

But the difference between the use of the special counsel and regular DOJ prosecutors is significant. They are independent, and don't answer to the DOJ.

As in the Valerie Plame case, when Patrick Fitzgerald was appointe, I personally believe this case deserves a special counsel as well. If nothing else, it mitigates the arguments that any investigation is an "inside job".

14. So, you're saying that Lieberman (and McCain) were just pandering by saying this?
Mon Jun 18, 2012, 12:07 AM

McCain was saying it last Friday, as well as Lindsay Graham.

It's quite amusing seeing those 3 "carpet shoppers", who went to Iraq in 2004 to show everyone how safe it was to go to market to shop in Baghdad -- never mentioning the 1300 troops, the 4 Apache attack helicopters, or the 6 Blackhawk helicopters hovering nearby that accompanied them on their little shopping gala to the local bazaar, lie their asses off now by calling for something that can't even happen because they demanded that the special independent prosecutor law not be renewed 14 years ago!!!!

Washington is like a zoo, stocked with a common species of animal related to the elephant, called Hippo Crites.

13. Again with the GOP bringing out the GOP old guard to make these leak attacks on the White House.

Because the current crop of GOP leaders have no gravitas or standing at all. The public doesn't trust them.
