http://www.politicususa.com/shades-sarah-palin-mitt-romney-bombs-cbs-interview.htmlsnip
At times Romneys babbles and dodges reminded one of another Republican candidate who avoided the mainstream media at all costs, but unlike Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin actually had more broadcast interviews early in her campaign than Mitt Romney has. By design, Romney has been more sheltered from the mainstream press than Sarah Palin was in the early fall of 2008.
One look at Romney on Face The Nation was all it took to explain why. Romney doesnt possess Palins happy ignorance, but he shares with her an inability to give a straight answer and a genuine lack of substance.
Obama put a bullet in Bin Ladens brain. Romney cant tell us if he will repeal the new immigration policy, or what tax deductions he will eliminate without talking to Congress first.
This difference may end up being the biggest reason why Obama is the president, and Romney never might be.

(3,539 posts)Oh ya I remember.
We don't want no stinking thinking president.
We just want one with working fingers who knows how to spell his name.
We know what WE want.
Screw the American people, long as we get what we want.
Or something like that.

(12,233 posts)But it just makes Mitt, who is running for the highest office in the land, to look like an idiot to use "Democrat" every time he speaks of his opponent's party. And most of the time, those who do that "Democrat" dig, do it once or twice just to show they are digging... But for him to do it the entire interview makes him look like an uninformed idiot.... Like he really doesn't know that its the Democratic Party... he thinks its the Democrat Party....
Most people would assume him to be a moron since he does it the entire interview. If he's supposed to be above partisanship and this wonderful private sector intelligent man who is to lead the the country into the land of wealth and prosperity for all, it does make him seem like he's more like the village idiot than the degrees behind his pedigree would seem to showcase..
BTW, what does it say about Harvard and Yale for them to turn out people like Mitt and Bush? If I was a recruiting staff member, these 2 tools would really scare the crap out of me... It would seem to indicate that their pricey tuition tag might not be what its worth since it turned out people like Bush and Romney.
If anything, it just goes to show the American people that its all about who you know and what your last name is to actually "make it" anywhere. Think about all the people who sit on boards and are CEO's; etc.... People got there because of who they are more often than because of merit. People like Michelle and Barack had to work their tails off and loan themselves into obscene debt to get anywhere.... I think its telling who is more in touch with the American people the more Mitt opens his mouth.

(12,233 posts)and instant feedback, twitter, Facebook, etc, the pundits couldn't spin Grandpa into the winner like they did with Bush. I don't think they will be able to spin Mitt at all. They are trying their hardest to make him look good in the M$M, but they just can't. He's a tool to his party and the rest of the country.

no one who genuinely 'likes' the man personally.
There's a widespread and profound dislike of him and everything he stands for among the common folk out here in California.
I'm wondering if ordinary people 'like' Romney in the red states.
Harry Monroe
(2,935 posts)But they sure as hell will vote for him. Hell, they'd vote for a reincarnated Adolph Hitler before they'd vote for Obama here in Mississippi. People around here cannot tell me what they really like about Romney but they'll give you an earful as to why they hate Obama. Sprinkle the words, "socialist", "Marxist", "Communist", "Muslim", "foreigner" liberally throughout, add a few expletives and some other words and you'll have a typical conversation about what they don't like about Obama. Really, they're just pissed off that a black man is in charge and it enrages them to no end.

(14,180 posts)who can go speak some common sense to these folks and get them to start removing the blinders from their eyes.
There is simply no rational reason why any white working class person in Mississippi or anywhere else should even consider voting for Romney.
But the "Ugh!" factor with Willard seems so pronounced. Maybe Obama is a bit cerebral but he also exudes a Sidney Poitier cool to which only the most cold hearted can fail to respond.
Just a few random late-night musings.

(14,180 posts)flack), altho he does have some credibility on issues central to the working class.
But I was thinking of a southerner, possibly a defector from big biz, who can tell the white working class that their real enemy is the big money boys and not the black working class or Obama. Maybe that southerner doesn't yet exist in today's milieu. But Huey P. Long's example proves that need not always be the case.

(12,233 posts)is that the GOP rules the roost's of state and local municipalities....and the economy stinks in most of these red states.. They tend to blame Pres. Obama for NOT doing anything to help them (especially with the foreclosure mess that Bush and cronies and crooks engaged in throughout the south) and they blame him for not creating jobs. They can't understand why there aren't jobs, at the very least, fixing roads and bridges... things that so many in the construction field could easily switch into. They don't understand the President doesn't have a magic wand and can just create programs and jobs like that. AND without more Federal stimulus to help states and local regions out, even teachers and police and court house workers etc are being laid off or furloughed.
Example: the high speed train that we received Federal monies for from Tampa to Orlando that would have created 24,000 jobs was denied by Rick Scott (people are pissed off about that with this Gov), however, people don't understand why the Federal Govt that they pay taxes to and take imminent domain on all the time didn't just come in and say F you to the Gov and work around him. Really, they should have, then they would look really bad holding their Klan party in Tampa as they nominate their tool while the "President's train" was being built right behind them.
So, we have many people who aren't politically savvy and who voted for the President in 2008 believing we had a chance to do sensible things and have Govt work for the people and not for the corporations, wall st, and the wealthy 1%, who will not be coming out to "bother" to vote. They don't see that their vote means anything because things still substantially suck and the propaganda machines are always saying things like "both parties are guilty of _____". When really the congress and the Senate have blocked any real initiatives and liteally have held this country hostage in order to try and win elections.
Its going to be really hard to rev up the type of hope that 2008 held in so many for this country. It's like every one wanted a reset on the last 30 or 40 yrs since St. Ronnie initiated the "trickle down theory" and Gordon Grecko greed was a good thing. The reality is that there is so much to fix, that 3 yrs... even 8yrs is not enough to roll back all the crap of the last 30+ yrs. And now that we are "global" its not so easy to just push the rewind button and get rid of all the things and agencies and people who have created such a crap ass country. And our corporate news media doesn't report on beneficial information of programs that are available for people. There are a lot of people who have so little clue as to what their rights are or what types of agencies and programs are out their to help them or family members out.
Its going to be tough to turn out the vote. I think that's the only reason the election is close.. Likely voters are neck and neck... The "independent"; meaning often, I don't know what in the world is actually going on and I'm voting for the person who I'd like to have a beer with or accept as a friend on my Facebook page, are the people that will make or break this election...And we know if the polls are close, then its easier to steal the election.... Example: my boss, a business owner, pays very little attention (idiot), and thought the entire health care debate was about getting us a medicare for all type of system like Canada has... when if passed she was asking me what it could do for her... she was in such financial downturn in all her businesses, she had to drop her private health care for her family.. which is expensive to pay for on your own.. and her business is so small, she doesn't have a way to offer benefits to any of her employees.. and most of the workers qualify for medicare/ medicaid or some sort of kid care for their children... And it all comes back to protecting greedy private insurance companies who make money on denying coverage. And because wages haven't kept up with the cost of living, people who travel don't want to spend a lot of money, shorten their trip stay, and use more of the hotel amenities to save $ for other things they are wanting do or see while on their mini-vacation... its a revolving cycle of losing money for the hotel business.

Of course they can't, they are the party of pure greed, hatred, racism, anti-intellectualism and crime. The more of those behaviors they exhibit the more they are liked.
