A bad golfer sounds like this:

WHACK, fuck!

A bad skydiver sounds like this:

and backed out of each. I thought it might get me over my fear of heights/falling, but have a greater fear of having my name in the paper next to the words "parachute failed".

RIP guys.

up like these poor guys. It is a great thrill, but after a few mishaps in the air like I had, the thrill is gone.

FORTUNATELY turned out well, I decided those days were over.

I'll read about that sort of thing in Accidents in North American Mountaineering from my wingback chair now, thank you.

have a death wish of some sort. There are some things that make little sense and have a large danger of peril to them, such as these things or others include rock climbing without safety ropes or climbing a mountain in winter, and people still do it.

"This really brings it home. It can happen at any socioeconomic level, at any time."

Did you really think it couldn't? That tragedy and loss were just for the little people? I'm sure we'll see a pretty pronounced lack of sympathy for the dead mogul in this thread, but that quote suggests to me a deep-rooted lack of empathy among the well-off that probably goes a long way toward explaining predatory and anti-social economic and social policies.

Anyway, I hope that both families are able to find some peace and comfort...
