Gen. Wesley Clark jumps the shark

A dumb reality show with the quitter's secessionist husband - I guess the general has given up on being a serious force in politics.
---
LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Sarah Palin's husband Todd will compete against Laili Ali, Dean Cain, former NFL player Terry Crews and others in NBC's upcoming reality competition "Stars Earn Stripes," the network said Tuesday. The network also revealed that former Supreme Allied Commander Europe for NATO Wesley Clark will co-host the series with "Entertainment Tonight" personality Samantha Harris.

On the series, which premieres on NBC with a two-hour episode on August 13, competitors will face off at a remote training facility as they take on missions inspired by actual military exercises. Paired up with "operatives" who formerly served in the armed forces or in a law-enforcement agency, the contestants will compete for cash prizes for military, veterans and first responder-based charities.

"I am thrilled to join ‘Stars Earn Stripes' as host and look forward to watching the celebrity cast members test themselves as they step up to take on these tough challenges," Clark said of the hosting stint. "This new series pays tribute to members of our dedicated armed forces and civil law enforcement and I know that the winnings, which will be donated to first-responder charity and veterans' groups, will make a difference and send an important message."

The full list of competitors includes boxing champion Ali (who'll compete for Military Child Education Coalition); "Lois & Clark" star Cain (competing for the Wounded Warrior Project); Crews (playing for the Pat Tillman Foundation); Palin (whose charity is the Armed Services YMCA Alaska); singer Nick Lachey (competing for the Badge of Honor Memorial Foundation); Olympic gold medalist Picabo Street (playing for Hiring Our Heroes); "The Biggest Loser" trainer Dolvett Quince (playing for Got Your 6); and WWE diva Eva Torres (competing for the USO).

despite a personal bias against those with a military background.

Never watched a reality TV show and haven't had a TV for over a year (easy as I grew up and went through most of college without TV).

The USA is missing more than Joe DiMaggio.

I hope the Pat Tillman Foundation wins though think Tillman was a fool tool that grew wise too late and grieve for his family.

TV is our enemy. Watch out for the slime from your video please.

this is WRONG on so many levels!!! Still at least Clark is opting this route instead of being a slimey lobbiest or working for Goldman Sachs. Its a sad end but at least he hasn't sold himself totally out to corporate whoredom the way most do.

I can see it being hard from his perspective to say 'no' just because it's a game show.

They have to convince the 18-somethings to join the military. They need warm bodies for the war machine.. it's that simple. (same tactics used by Cigarette Companies over the years)

Wiith Cheap-to-produce programs featuring people like Sarah Palin, Biggest Loser, Eva Torres, etc, they can continue to suck the young and stupid and un-aware into the war machine and continue to support the World Bankers and their Grip on society.

These recruits will be headed off to war in in the Mideast and will promptly be KILLED by roadside bombs.

But that wont matter.. they will pump up a few country songs like Lee Greenwood ,and the masses will continue to march to the tune of death in support of Exxon-Mobil, Big Banks, Big Pharma and Big Military.

Like Sunny and Cher said YEARS ago... "The Beat goes ON.."

He is very identified with his military career and loves to educate the public about what it means to be in the armed forces. He evaluated military actions when he was a consultant for CNN.
Of course civilian "celebrities" will will make a mess of things and that will give Clark an opprtunity to explain proper military behavior. It might be interesting to those who never served in the military and those who have.

My bet is that he has given up on the political gridlock and has retired his political ambitions.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see John Edwards doing Dancing With the Stars, or Celebrity Boxing, as part of his route back to redemption.
