This is the statement he made on Martin Bashir's show yesterday that got him suspended:
Unbelievable. Politico just confirmed it is a right-wing organization.

(14,255 posts)The right-winginess of the comments is blatant - I figured it was either right-wing to begin with, or the trolls had taken over. Looks like the trolls were right at home.

(50,649 posts)more subtle than Fox but with the same end goal, imo. It is owned by Albritton Communications, run by Robert Albritton, a died in the wool conservative. More often than not articles that seem to be positive about Democrats turn out to be ones damning with faint praise.
Politico was publicly endorsed by Bush during the Bush regime, says it all, imo.
Here is a opinion piece by Media Matters on Politico entitled, "Is Politico a GOP Shill?", written in 2007. Ironically, I found it on Politico's website, lol:

"In short, this is a publication by and for political junkies. But, as it turns out, The Politico also has a loyal fan base in the Bush administration and the Republican National Committee, which typically show the "mainstream media" the utmost contempt. White House senior adviser Karl Rove speculated that the all-politics publication would prompt regional papers to dismantle their Washington bureaus. At a Feb. 14 news conference, President Bush invited Mike Allen, The Politico's chief political writer, to explain his new outfit to "the American people."
And then there is the "slow bleed" saga. As we at Media Matters for America documented in a Feb. 14 article, John Bresnahan, The Politico's congressional bureau chief, used the loaded phrase "slow bleed" to characterize the Democrats' strategy in dealing with the administration on Iraq. That same day, the Republican National Committee released a letter citing Bresnahan's article in falsely claiming that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.) call the Democrats' strategy "their 'slow-bleed' plan." Bresnahan issued a clarification on Feb. 16 which made clear that "slow bleed" was indeed The Politico's "characterization," and that it "was not a term used by any Democrats or the anti-war groups supporting their efforts." But the damage had already been done -- conservative bloggers were shouting "slow bleed" from the rooftops, and congressional Republicans were dropping it into their speeches."

(61,821 posts)"They're white folks who are very much relaxed in their own company." A statement of truth, said by a person from a historically oppressed group about a group that has 99.9% of the power in this country. And it was stated politely and factually. No slurs. Just the facts. But that is not allowed.
