I just hope that President Obama on his bus tour next week thru PA & OH will be able to keep up with the massive outpouring of humanity that came out for Mittens:

(24,461 posts)Seems there is just as much security and press as there are fans (chuckle). I also love how the press is gathered in close, as if RMoney is worth caring about. Also makes the crowds look bigger than they actually are in photos.

(24,461 posts)Even my Republican friends hate RMoney. They make comments like "I've never been less enthused about a Presidential election in my life." Whenever R-Money talks, it's the verbal equivalent of someone falling down steps for laughs.

(13,468 posts)There are some people that are stuck behind someone, I guess you could call that a "crowd".

(25,592 posts)Are there any pictures of Obama campaigning, showing small crowds? How do the pictures jibe with the polls?
Neck and neck, my ass.

(15,953 posts)imagine how big the crowds would be. They would likely be out numbered by Mitt's servants and the Secret Service guards.

(175 posts)In the first photo, people are milling about making me think that either Mitt hasn't arrived or just finished.
In the second, it looks like it might be a press-only event.
Although fun, it seems a little silly to try and guage political support from a few selected photos.

(488 posts)anything that I can do, say, post to inform people, educate people, influence people of the facts against rMoney is a good thing. that man is a sociopath and the people that support him are ignorant or greedy

(175 posts)Like I said, pictures like this are fun, but they don't speak to the fact (on which we agree) that Romney is "a sociopath and the people that support him are ignorant or greedy."
The point of my post -- for which I am not paid (don't really get that comment) -- is that these pictures almost certainly do not accurately speak to the level of popular support for Romney.

(3,710 posts)That these two examples could be outliers of his actual support. I agree the second picture could possibly be a press-only event, but...I have yet to see any pictures that contradict the impression that his support during his public events is tepid.
Please, if you have such pictures, could you post them?

(175 posts)But if I did I wouldn't take them as evidence of support for Romney either.
Romney and Obama both speak to large and small crowds regularly and both have their pictures taken hundreds of times every day. I'm sure there are also pictures of Obama speaking to small crowds.
I just can't look at a couple of photographs and conclude that support for Romney is weak, when there is so much more direct evidence (polls, campaign spending, etc.) that the election is going to be close.
Maybe that's just me...believe me, I hope I'm wrong and that the election is as much of a landslide for Obama as these photos are purported to show.

(5,061 posts)I don't know about the second event, but the first one was in Frankenmuth, MI. Here are the pictures from the Saginaw News so you can judge for yourself if it is a misrepresentation:

I've been to Frankenmuth many times: it's a small rural town in the heart of "Romney country." It's not that small, though: it's a popular tourist destination, and it should not have been that hard for people to convince Romney supporters to show up at 10:00 am on what looked to be a great day to enjoy the town. Instead, they got 400, tops.
This either speaks to a lack of appeal in his native state, or a lack of organizational strength. Either way, it's good news for us.
