In an attempt to search for and re-connect with people I served with while I was active duty from 1982 - 1991, I joined a Facebook page for US Army Vets.
When I checked the page this morning, I found a status update from one of the members about how Obama's attempts at gun control had lead to a third consecutive year of record-shattering production and sales of weapons and ammo.
One of the posters made mention something to the effect that: Everyone is going to need their guns to get rid of Obama.
I guess I should have been more careful and reviewed the page more before I joined, but what's done is done.
I got a screenprint of the threatening status update and I want to report what could be a threat to the President of the US.
My question is: How do I report this perceived threat to the SS?
While I wait to hear from one of our posters here at DU who has already been through this, I'm going to Google for Secret Service - maybe they have a FAQ page that addresses this situation. Thanks.

(135,425 posts)Contact your nearest U.S. Secret Service field office which is listed in the "Emergency Numbers" section in the front of most phone books.
The Secret Service is interested in legitimate information relating to threats, plans or attempts by individuals, groups or organizations to harm Secret Service protectees. However, the agency does not desire or solicit information pertaining to individuals or groups expressing legitimate criticism of, or political opposition to, the policies and decisions of the government or government officials.

(11,119 posts)this site seems to be a cesspool of birthin', gun-totin' Obama-haters.........Lotta hate speech going on there, like: Scum has infected our government. Some of these people sound like militia members.
Somebody just made the status update that if Obama comes for his guns - he'll be returning to Nairobi in a pine box........I think that this is just the way these rubes talk.
Thank the powers-that-be that most of these morons are no longer in the military.

(11,119 posts)I also e-mailed the person/agent a link to the Facebook page. I will leave it up to them to decide if the remarks are something that they should investigate - I figure they know best about these kinds of things.
Anyway, thanks for the info about reporting the threats. Also, the Facebook reporting links kept leading me back to the same page...............I finally gave up.

(31,182 posts)I have only used FB to report down one nasty user. I don't recall how tricky it was. They may have changed it.

(199 posts)Not all military are gun lovin killers. There are a lot of left-leaning ones too. It's just that the wingnut types always scream louder.

"Don't thank me, thank yourself!" as Herman Cain might say.
