I hear it's a "sad day for liberty"

That's their line, I'm hearing it all over. RWers really have a line of B.S. don't they?

By the way, isn't that what Romney said about the Chinese dissident Chen? The Chen that is now living in Greenwich Village and studying at NYU? Maybe Obamacare will have a similarly disastrous outcome.

30 million new customers into the health care industry, means more money will flow to pharmaceutical companies, doctors, hospitals, insurers, and the people they employ. I can't believe the BS they are spewing.

saying this is Terry McAuliffe... you know, the guy who helped Clinton and Rahm Emanuel start the "new" democratic
party back in 1995.

"This decision is about affordable quality health care for American children and families. A major day for our country," said Terry McAuliffe, a potential 2013 gubernatorial candidate.

9. The point with Chen is straightforward.

It's why people like Sakharov didn't emigrate.

In-country, they're dissidents. They have some moral weight. They're a nuisance to the government, and in touch with people.

Out-of-country, they're emigrants. They've decided to leave instead of fight. Their absence is a relief to the government, and they're increasingly out of touch with the situation on the ground.

If this holds true for Chen, then Franklin's "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety" holds true for Chen.

Sakharov probably would have altered it to, "Those who would give up their fellow's essential liberty by purchasing a their own safety" are short-sighted (or some such negative adjective). It's an open question as to whether those who quit the field of battle are deserving of liberty or safety.
