What a complete waste of resources

Now that the SCOTUS has declared the ACA constitutional, I was reflecting on all the resources that the reich wing wasted on their misguided opposition. The Tea Party...OMG how much money and propaganda went through that fiasco. The ad buys. The raison d'etre of the US Chamber of Commerce. The death panel lies. Was there one little bit of credible discussion? No.

All that money, KKKarl et co. What did it get you? Egg on your face. Your thug governors? Watch what happens when they try to take the ACA away or ignore it. They will thoroughly embarrass themselves.

Where did all that money go? In the pockets of the MEdia for one, who is busy planning how to keep the reich wing alive.

1. Pouring all our money into health insurance is the waste of money.

We need to spend less money on insurance and more on actual health care. This is all bassackwards as they say.

2. Not exactly. The Supreme Court just proved the Republicans and the Heritage Foundation were right.

But Republicans were not always so hostile. Until the healthcare law passed last year, requiring medical insurance had a long history as a mainstream GOP idea.

It was promoted by conservative policy experts at places like the Heritage Foundation more than 20 years ago. In the 1990s, the concept was championed by Republicans on Capitol Hill.

And it was ultimately implemented by Romney in Massachusetts; in 2006 he became the first elected official from either party to sign a mandate into law.

5. Old guard, new guard, they're almost all garbage.

The 20th century-and-beyond GOP has been, with few exceptions (i.e., Teddy Roosevelt), a pile of subhuman pro-corporate trash.

If I had the services of a genie I would wish them off to another planet. Let them destroy it and leave us in peace.

4. The Rushpublicans Reaped Lots From The Health Care Debate...
Fri Jun 29, 2012, 09:23 AM
Jun 2012

It became their cause...it helped launch the teabaggers and ended up with the rushpublicans taking control of the House and really screwing this country up. It made a toxic political atmosphere more fetid and also helped the rushpublicans take control of state houses across the country...busting unions, disenfranchising voters and redrawing congressional districts. The poutrage whipped up by faux noise and hate radio led to the "big gubbermint" rants that distorted what the AHCA was all about and that allows the talking points to resonate louder and work their way into the "mainstream" (as witnessed in CNN's boner in jumping on saying the AHCA had been repealed when it hadn't).

As far as the money...there are a lot of people who benefit from this tidal wave of cash. We now have a 24/7/365 election cycle with large campaign staffs that feast on the SuperPac money. There's also television stations (including CNN) who stand to make a big cash windfall as they won't be able to sell enough ad time to whatever SuperPac waives their wallet. This money replaces revenues they've lost over recent years and are desperate to get as much as they can. It's a big reason they want the "close race" meme pushed as the closer this election is perceived the more money the fat cats will spend. Will it influence the election? That's to be seen.

My hopes are people power can trump a propaganda war...substance will prevail over posturing and the GOTB will take a big hit this fall...but it's gonna take a lot of hard work on the ground...a lot of noise to try to cut through.

Cheers...
