Can we find some Common Ground here?

This is trivial and stupid...Who cares if its called a tax, a fee, a booger...its a Great Deal. Lets talk about people who benefit from it. Do you fight for the smaller number of people, paying a bit of Tax, fee BOOGER...or do we get the most people into the healthcare system we possibly can, and save some lives...Can we find SOME COMMON GROUND HERE?

1. Anyone in their right mind sees it as a great deal.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who are not in their right mind.

BTW, no pun intended.

Do not tell me this is not a big fucking deal. Without ACA, she would have to find a job immediately after finishing school that had health insurance and wouldn't refuse her pre-existing condition. Now, she can stay on my insurance until she is 26. This could LITERALLY be life or death for my little girl.

But think about it. Do we want to chuck this all out the window, and start again from scratch? It took us a mighty long time to get them to even discuss it.

It may not be pretty, But who gives a shit if its pretty when you are standing by that hospital bed, and there is your baby born with chronic illness...last thing you need is wondering how the hell you're gonna pay for it.

We can't get it all at once, but I would rather work with what we have, until we can get there...some dreams this large, takes steps to get there. We took one...lets not go back.

Right now, millions of people are breathing a sigh of relief, already feeling better from the stress, worry, fear of getting sick and subsequent health care bills.

No one will have to decide whether they should just die or send their family into bankruptcy.

I don't care how much it costs or how we got here, but this is where we need to be.

finally left it after I put up a post about my diabetic daughter, in response to Bush's first act in office being the ban on stem cell research, titled "George Bush is trying to kill my daughter." The unbelievable crap some of the right wingers threw at me was too much to take. Half said I was making the story up to gain sympathy for my position, while the others were split between "better she dies that we violate God's law" and "you having a sick daughter does not give you the right to steal my money to pay for her care."
I finally posted the Oliver Wendall Holmes line: "I love paying taxes. With them I buy civilization," and deleted my account.
After that I moved in with a bunch of crazy, caring people at a place called Democratic Underground.

no one is gonna care about it outside of cyberland...you talk politics to them and their eyes roll back into their heads. They don't care about minute details of a bill...This is instant AMERICA...we want results, we dont give a rat's azz how you did it...show me results!!!

They will see they have healthcare coverage, many for the very first time in their lives. And thank GOD. They will only care about the result...and you know what? None of them would have to worry at all about this "TAX"

Only teeny tiny percentage of the population would be affected. Say I call that a GREAT DEAL..It is a Big Fuggin deal....only a teeny tiny percentage is affected by this burdensome "Tax" vs Millions of American have healthcare....lets weigh this out.....Small number vs Bigger number....what should we do?

A name is a name is a name. All the repukes have is "it's a tax". SO what's their plan? They don't have one, they're not gonna get one, they don't want one. That in itself eliminates them from the conversation. They have no say. Bring something to the table and we'll talk. Until then, shut the fuck up! That's how I feel about it.

Yes, it's a tax. It was always a tax. Supporters were too cowardly to admit it.

Worse than cowardly, it was stupid. All polls showed an overwhelmingly massive percentage of Americans were in favor of paying more taxes THEMSELVES for healthcare. While all polls showed we hated the indvidual mandate.

Today, there is no more individual mandate. We just increased the income tax 1%. But also added a tax incentive that lowers our income tax 1% if we have qualifying insurance.

It is not a mandate. It is an incentive. And people like incentives.

are not going to care about details. They will only care about the result.

I hope Romney tries to go after Obama on this...he will have a chance he should have done in 2010, explain it all to Americans, step by step, what it means for them...go over all those details, like you are explaining to someone who has only been brainwashed by fox. Graphs, pictures, work.

Lay it all out in a pretty fan, how this Law will change the lives of Millions...that is all they are going to care about.

13. The vast majority of our tax dollars goes to war and Big Government
Fri Jun 29, 2012, 04:30 PM
Jun 2012

I think we could afford a little tax (if that is what they want to call it) to take care of the health of our people!

What could be a more important use of our tax dollars than to take care of our own people who are sick?

What could be more important than preventing health problems for our children and allowing our elders to live happily, peacefully in their retirement, knowing they can pass down what they earned to their children and not have to sell their home to pay for health care?

Now...let's talk about where the real money is going from our tax dollars...

What are the wars and the Big Government programs for? to protect us?

There are a lot more people dying from lack of health care than terrorism!

Who ARE these people that will leave a pile of debt to their children for wars and Big Government slush funds, but just can't handle the government helping out with health care?
