Derecho: proof of global climate change

This is a line of thunderstorms that has moved out of Iowa across Ohio and is hitting West Virgina around 6:45 EDT. When I say across Ohio, I mean from Lake Erie down to the Ohio River. The storm itself is moving at 65MPH, it has winds reported from 60 to 90 MPH and for extra credit is generating tornadoes!

If we had ever had these storms before, we'd be familiar with the name for them!

Guess what - another one is coming through on Saturday!

I found out that one passed through Syracuse back in 1998 - I remember that storm, but they didn't call i a derecho. That storm is the reason I now have a bedside NOAA weather radio.
