As I drive around, I've noticed that very few cars around here have bumper stickers...

I have a bunch (DU front and back, Turn Off Fox News, the blue Democrats one, several Obamas - just a couple of non-political ones - Ocracoke Beach and profile of a labrador retriever).

so it got me wondering if there was a correlation between political activity and bumper stickers - do most of those who don't have them prefer not to make their views known? Or just are not politically active?

Hence this poll! Just curious....would love to hear about reasoning for what you choose to do.

I never, ever had them until the 2000 then 2004 election thefts -starting in 2004, wearing my lefty stickers with pride (and always amused at people's reactions to them).

And they wouldn't be very effective since my truck seldom leaves the farm. The last time it was started was about two months ago and it probably won't be started for another two months unless my husband needs it for something.

During the 2008 election I put my Obama bumper stickers on magnetic sheets and took them off when I went somewhere I was worried about right wing nuts. But they both came off at some point - stolen or blew off along the way into town.

had in the early 80s when I visited a friend at UCD who was really excited because the city had passed an open space law.

Even so, it is still something these days if a city even wants to protect its downtown shopping area. Back in the '60s, my hometown's downtown was a vibrant shopping area, but big shopping centers were built that siphoned away almost all of the business from downtown, leaving it a husk of its former self. And to add insult to injury, most of those shopping centers now are also mere husks of their former selves, with most shops lucky if they last more than a year.

One was to lock in zoning in that area for 25 years, and the other was to build a huge shopping center in what is now a corn field. Both measures were rejected, so we might still get a shopping center, just not THAT shopping center.

is Obama and our car would be keyed before we got out of the store every time we'd go somewhere if I put an Obama sticker on ours. I think that is the mindset of many of us hence you don't see many bumpers stickers.
Looking at the size of the rallies at the rMoneys and Obama's rallies it's pretty obvious who most people are going to be voting for.

Of Course I have my Obama stickers, 2008 and 2012 and then there's one that says "Got Science?"

Folks, if its so bad you can't even sport an Obama sticker during an election year, there is no hope for America. Get rid of the fear...put the sticker on your rear window where it will come off easily when you go to sell the car. Listen to FDR. Time to stand up for our guy.

taped to the inside of my pickup truck rear window. There is a teabagger here in town who has his car plastered with right wing bumper stickers. I can't remember them all, but the one I do remember says "Liberals make me sick". I see him a couple of times a week and I always try to get in front of him so when we are at a stop light he has to see my sticker LOL.

Partly because bumperstickers lower resale value of a car (although I drive cars til they fall apart...), but they also give nutjobs an easy target when parked. Put the bumpersticker on the magnet, put the magnet on the car, and then take them off and throw them in the trunk when you park.

This also allows you to update your message to keep up with current events.

No bumper sticker. In THE CITY we don't need a car. One uses public transportation.. be it Bus, Trolly car, Cable car, Light Rail, Rickshaw, or Taxi. One can also chose to use bicycle or feet. This city is not that big...and a bumper sticker would look poorly on the back of my jeans.

Both are of the 'Veterans for' variety, and I've never really had any trouble from other drivers. I figure if they don't like the politics, maybe they think I'm driving my husband's car. I have gotten a number of 'thumbs up'.
