Neat trick: Superintendent removes election opponent, his pregnant wife from their jobs

The superintendent of Bradford County Schools didn't renew the contracts of a man and his pregnant wife, both high school vice principals, after the husband filed to run against the elected superintendent this year.

By not renewing their contracts, Superintendent Beth Moore essentially fired Chad Farnsworth and his wife, Jennifer, from their jobs at Bradford County High after Farnsworth declared his ambition to unseat Moore.

Chad Farnsworth wouldn't say much about what happened, but he did say Moore's decision wasn't in the best interest of the county's students.

"To me it seemed that she was unhappy with my decision to enter the political race," he said.
Terricena Kittles also is running against Moore this year, according to the county's election website.

but I really feel uncomfortable about the concept. It seems the Superintendent should be elected by a school board who cannot also serve in the school system (we do have spouses of school board members which are in the school system though which sets up potential conflicts of interest).

I think the school system needs to rethink its structure.
