Now that everyone will have health coverage, should auto insurance rates go down?

Most of the cost of auto insurance is to cover medical in the case of an accident.

Should our auto insurance rates go down as they only need cover the cost of the car?

Me feel safer about working with the unknown, more open to some possibiliites for my own life.

Although the ACA should not affect me at all, as I am out of the loop. Just the idea other people would have less worry, made me feel more free. I have not felt that way for a long time.

Medical care from an accident is limited, and pays with other health insurance providers until they can subrogate* the claim. If the injuries exceed the limits in the policy, the insured is SOL, although their main health provider will be stuck with them anyway. If they can pay the premium, that is.

In the case of ACA, if they can't, in comes Medicaid or a subsidy. I don't see the ACA eliminating the medical policies automatically, and a person who can afford any kind of private insurance in addtion, which is what auto liability and comprehensive is, they can continue.

If a person is well covered by ACA, they can tell the auto insurance company to drop their own coverage. But I'm not sure if they will be able to drop medical insurance for the person they might be found at fauilt as part of their liability coverage. There will no doubt still be persons without any form of insurance.

It's not like the right wing thinks, no one is coming to arrest anyone over this. They can opt out but be penalized for late enrollment. In some combination of those factors, a person's auto insurance might come down.

Also, remember that liabilty may still be required if one hits an inanimate object and causes property damage, not health problems, so it won't be 'just the car' that is insured. I hope that wasn't more confusing than not answering at all, LOL!

*Subrogation in its most common usage refers to circumstances in which an insurance company tries to recoup expenses for a claim it paid out when another party should have been responsible for paying at least a portion of that claim.

If you get into an auto accident, the primary insurer for health care related to those injuries is the auto insurance, not your health insurance.

homeowners insurance?

if you've got medical, seems like it would apply to all medical bills. why medical on auto insurance.

why so many fucking insurances in the first place? what's the point?

ultimately, just to move money into the hands of elites.
