A Jobs Program that could employ every person in America?

As I have watched the wildfire in Colorado Springs for the last week, I can see a need that could put every young person in America to work. It would be similar to the old Civilian Conservation Corps. But it would benefit all of us.

The fires exploded across the mountains and burned 346 homes before it burned itself out. The old growth and the dead brush in the forest was like gasoline. There was no way to stop it. With the hot weather and the drought conditions, it was a time bomb waiting to happen.

But we could put people to work cleaning up our forests, and creating small reservoirs for water to use during drought conditions, to preserve our forests. We could pay them in cash or educational credits or both. Not only would we be helping our forests, we could also be helping our young people to get an education and learn the value of work.

This would be a great program for saving our environment. We get our oxygen from trees so we should do our best to protect and nourish them. But we need to start thinking anew.

Wouldn't help me since I am already 73 years old and could use a job to supplement my social security. And I sure as hell do not want to be a WalMart greeter.
