LOL, I hadn't watched any of Rick Steves' travel shows for a while ...

but there are some new episodes I hadn't seen, and I caught one today in which he visited Nürnburg. Visiting a museum devoted to the history of the Nazi movement, he used the phrase "but Hitler's promises were all trumped up". There was a noticeable accent on the word "trumped".

Of course the show was probably taped before the election, but I wouldn't be surprised if the campaign wasn't still running at the time.

I would expect him to do some serious eyerolling at Trump's extremism.

and someone calling in to complain that people shouldn't go to France and Germany because they wouldn't support the US and also go into Iraq. Steves gave the caller a bit of a lecture, in his unassuming way (he basically just stated as fact how many people each country had lost in World Wars I and II, and said that each country was consequently much more pacifist since then).

Travel, Budget Beds, and the Homeless
By Rick Steves

I just gave a $4 million apartment complex for homeless women and kids to the YWCA. Let me explain why.

I know vacation travel is supposed to provide a break from the grinding reality of our workaday lives. But for me, travel and the peace of mind of having a roof over your head have always been associated.

and he has mentioned drug laws in Europe on a few shows, pointing out (thoroughly nonjudgmentally) how different countries have taken different approaches. All seem to work better than the US approach.
