I'm done with Louise Mensch, and I'm done with DU posts about her too.

(47,209 posts)Why would you trust Milo? If she was doing her job right -wouldn't he be quiet about it? That makes no sense.
Granted, I think she has some okay sources and some questionable ones.. and that she could be fed some real bullshit as a set up. But I do not trust a single word out of Milo- why do you think he'd give up the scam now?

(32,917 posts)There's no reason for either of them to be discussed on DU.
They're both trolls with evil intentions of one kind or another. I have no interest in getting caught up in this.
I really admire the good people of DU, why is this even an issue here?
Thanks for understanding.

(47,209 posts)I'm not saying Mensch will turn out to be reliable, but I'm smart enough to not mix up rumours with actual journalism. I know RWers can't but I can.

(3,827 posts)I trust Mensch more than most of the corporate owned hacks who helped elect Donald Trump- Where was the journalism during the primaries? The media let him slide during that time. Trusting them to clean up this mess is almost laughable.

(10,291 posts)fantastic" remark she made.
Claude Taylor does seem to lend some gravitas and she has repeatedly said that Russian collusion was a hard pass for her...she even did when she praised DeVos.
The salt needs to come in with the FACT that she praised DeVos.

(49,075 posts)It makes it seem as though you are falling for the guilt by association fallacy, which might work on a jury but is less likely to work on a judge. You have a chance now to clarify whether you have any evidence or if you are falling back on guilt by association.

EXCERPT:
Milo Yiannopoulos, the provocateur journalist, and I, were once friendly. And then, due to the alt-right and his support for it, we were not. We were, however, still civil.
Before the recent revelations of Yiannopoulos position on child abuse, he had both a book deal, of some consequence, and was doing a tour of colleges. At Heat Street, we often covered the early stages of that tour, where liberal students would try to deny the conservative provocateur a platform by shouting him down. I was and am in favor of free speech.
However, in the period just before and after the election, those normal student protests suddenly became violent. And yet nobody could find the so-called students who were causing violent trouble. I started to suspect that Russian active measures were involved in funding these riots. The independent journalist Caroline @RVAwonk has a number of good threads on twitter about how Russian-Trump linked provocateurs like Baked Alaska will travel to places like Berkeley, looking to cause trouble.
However, I did not pursue this line of thought as I had other, bigger, fish to fry.
There was one thing on Twitter that caught my notice, however.
END OF EXCERPT.

On October 15th the FISC, or secret intelligence court, granted a FISA warrant against two Russian banks Silicon Valley Bank and Alfa Bank. (That is, as I have reported subsequently, two warrants, one per bank, granted on the same day.)
Milo Yiannopoulos has an account at one of these banks. He told me this himself. I reproduce the string of our email correspondence below.

Russian 'B' is pronounced 'Vee', hence the confusion.
I can't find any hint of Russian ownership of Silicon Valley Bank.

(16,548 posts)I think many DUers have been played by Louise.
tazkcmo
(7,306 posts)But how has Mensch played some DUers? Personally, I've only paid attention to her tweets concerning Russiagate and she's been very clear about rumor vs leak and has been pretty much on the money. I am aware that in other areas she has gone off the deep end. Her Right wing credentials are no secret either. As for trusting her, the only person I trusted with out the slightest doubt I was being told the truth was Walter Cronkite and none have risen to that level of trust since.
What I don't get is the criticizing of Mensch using a piece of walking, talking shit like this Milo ass. That's rich because there's legitimate reasons to use a degree of caution when reading her tweets and should be s.o.p. when reading anything on the Internet. But Milo creep? Ick.

(4,270 posts)Listen guys. I'm not a Mensch fan. With me it's more like a "meh- would be awesome if true but MEH' kinda thing.
But to use this moran to discredit -anyone- is pretty laughable. Why would he blow her cover in 2017 if they're both on the same side?

(9,675 posts)By the passage of time and the introduction of evidence to the contrary, I will dismiss Louise Mensch's prognostications outright.
However, we are in that period of time between scoop and proof, and many of us may be jumping the gun.
If the idea is to demonize Louise Mensch, the question is, what is the motivation? I'm not interested in Louise Mensch. I'm interested in the information that she is reporting. It's too early to dismiss it. Period.

(5,273 posts)These two former friends are having a public spat that she explained in her latest article where she says she parted company with him over his alt-right extremism but she also criticizes him for owing money to people and wonders why he banked with SVB.
In the article she says she questioned him about how he came to bank with Russian linked SVB and says she has sent their email correspondences to to FBI since this bank was target of FISA warrant.
https://patribotics.blog/2017/05/25/milo-yiannopoulus-has-an-account-with-a-fisa-targeted-russian-bank/
So maybe she is trying to boost her credibility with liberals by dissing Milo? Who knows since Louise's motives are questionable and her speculations and theories are unreliable since they are not credibly sourced, but mostly just her hunches based on some published info with grains of truth that she links together as possible connections in her theories.
By contrast to them and Claude Taylor, Seth Abramson who has been in a twitter spat with her seems much more credible and has a very good recent thread where he explains his take on the current status of the Trump/Russia investigations. His tweets seem much more fact based, well-thought out and responsible.

Mensch has done much more to take down tRump and keep Trump-Russia in the forefront than the opposite.
