Comey knowingly used fake news does not pass the smell test
This report really smells like fake news to me

(3,040 posts)It doesn't seem legit to me. As much as we like to demonize him, he is way to smart to fall for it.

(30,785 posts)for the things he has said since the firing.
This is another distraction.
They were stupid enough to think the Democrats would cheer the Comey firing. They have no idea about nuanced thinking. They think everyone has an attention span and memory as short as trump's. Sorry, we are not going to forget his role in putting 45 in the White House. If he helps get 45 out of the White House, that is good. But Comey is still a dick.
Managing his own supporters, throwing a lifeline for them to not abandon him.
They are not trying to discredit Comey with the government, the voters, even the Republicans.
This is a total base play, muddy the waters, or his minions on TV or not.
Preemptive attack because of what's happening this week. "Testimony"
how childish

(8,760 posts)He gave it as one of the two reasons that he announced the END of the investigation, it wasn't that he used it as evidence against anyone.
1. that they had uncovered a fake email that stated that AG Lynch was compromised.
2. he did not want anyone to think that AG was compromised after Bill Clinton talked to her on the tarmac.

He testifies tues, right? I am sure he will address THAT, as soon as he takes the oath!

(16,104 posts)his final testimony as FBI Director 'revealing' how Huma Abedin sent her despicable husband emails containing classified information for him to print - testimony under oath! - a wholesale fabrication of misstatements that had to be corrected by the FBI the day Comey was fired?
If Comey ever made a lick of sense - last summer, in October or just a few weeks ago, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.
But he has really stunk up the place, so....

(16,104 posts)What Comey says and does has no impact on anything, and he really is a good man - and, by the way, it's all Hillary's fault anyway.
Oh, I hear you.

(8,760 posts)show me your evidence of exactly what Comey said that you believe was untruthful and your evidence to support that.

(16,104 posts)"He misstated the NUMBERS."
Are we giving passes to all the White House associates who misstated their contacts with foreign representatives, like Flynn, Manafort, Sessions and Kushner?
Let's have a little consistency here, shall we?

(8,760 posts)the numbers of emails forwarded, were more likely backed up.....
Huma's emails were still moved to her husbands laptop.
She did actually literally forward them a number of times and some of them were classified.
No material difference, just semantics.
Nothing like the Trump gang.

(15,682 posts)about this particular story. "does not pass the smell test" I don't know that I've had the same kind of reaction to any other story since this all started.
It doesn't fit. He finds out that Lynch is not going to allow the investigation to go any deeper and he runs to be the first to clear Hillary? It makes no sense. Nothing about it fits. And how could it have been a game changer, as I've heard said?

(35,390 posts)The initial "leak" that he had the report; the leak that the report was disinformation; the leak that he knew it was fake.
No "leak" has any greater grounds for trust than any other leak, apart from our awesome ability to know what is true and false using our olfactory receptors.
We don't need logic; we don't need evidence; we don't need verification; we don't need critical thinking. We don't need anything but our awesome knowses. He knows this, she knows that, I knows what I knows.
