I've always seen her as an opportunist, but this is really stretching it.
Oct. 2016:
Condoleezza Rice condemned Donald Trump and demanded his withdrawal from the presidential race following obscene remarks about women he made in 2005.
"Enough! Donald Trump should not be President. He should withdraw, said the former secretary of State in a Facebook post.
Rice, like many former Bush administration officials, has refused to support Trump, and skipped the 2016 Republican National Convention.
In her statement, Rice said she hopes Trump is replaced on the ticket by "someone who has the dignity and stature to run for the highest office in the greatest democracy on earth."

(10,749 posts)First off, she didn't need to say anything. But she chose to do so and then contradicted her position from a year ago. Tinfoil hat. Sure, there's a lot of opportunistic republicans but to go as far as they have in sycophancy, you have to wonder.

IMO black repugs have time and again proven themselves to be mere opportunists whose modus operandi is often a variation of the statement: "Look at me, I'm different than those others. You help me and I'll help you.

(8,760 posts)I thought that Trump's tweet was especially disturbing since he was gleefully bragging about lowering the standards of the Presidency.
Not only was Barack Obama publicly the most dignified President in my lifetime, his private reputation was sterling as well.
I can't imagine a greater contrast between two Presidents.

(6,051 posts)She was considered a Russian scholar and scolded Russia in the past when working in the Bush administration.
I am thinking there are many Republicans seeing the sanctions against Russia as interfering with massive profits to be made.
We are approaching an energy production fork in the road. Our world can now run on renewables. No one know that better than the oil industry.
If the oil industry and sell-out politicians move fast they can greatly delay their obsolescence while we get to endure pollution for decades.
I am reminded of the General Motors successful effort to get rid of the competition electric trolley cars in cities.

(24,006 posts)back in October, there was still a chance this macabre sideshow could be avoided
now it's a done deal, presumably for at least another 3.5 years
methinks she likes to be on the side of the bread with the most butter
