Sticking with political dogma over data and research NEVER turns out well.

Floodwaters are rising in a small southern town. Lester, a fundamentalist, sits on his front porch as the water creeps over the floorboards.
A deputy sheriff rows up in a small boat. "C'mon, you gotta get out of here. The water's rising fast."
"I'll stay here," Lester replies. "God will take care of me."
"Suit yourself, but you're making a mistake." the deputy hollers as he rows away.
Next morning, the water is halfway to the ceiling and Lester is sitting on the roof with a bottle of water and a bag of sandwiches. A state police motorboat pulls up. "You have to leave. It's getting worse." The trooper shouts.
"I'll be fine. God will take care of me." Luther insists.
The trooper shakes his head and leaves.
By dusk, Lester is sitting on the chimney, the last part of his house above the water. A National Guard helicopter approaches, the rescuer leaning out the door dangling a harness. "Put the harness on. We'll get you out."
Lester waves them off shouting "God will take care of me."
"Your choice. I don't have time to come down there and force you. We have other folks to rescue." The chopper flies off.
Of course, during the night the water continues to rise. Lester drowns and finds himself at St. Peter's gate. Peter checks his reservation book. "I don't believe we were expecting you."
Lester replies, "I shouldn't be here. I asked God to take care of me and he let me down. I want to talk to Him right now."
"Fine." Peter says, and leads Lester off to the Great Hall.
"God," Lester pleads, "I worship You, I pray to You and You let me drown. Why?"
God sighs and replies, "Let you drown? Lester, I sent two boats and a helicopter, what more did you want?"


Come to think of it, I seem to remember one of the climate deniers saying just about the same thing. "God will take care of it."
