Product registration, when you buy something new. Is it just

to collect data on who's buying the product? And to advertise their new products?

Reason I ask is I just bought a new vacuum cleaner (about $150). I never send the product registration paper on the old one.

Manufacturers make big bucks selling their so called Warranty lists.

Always read the fine print on the Warranty, especially anything from Sears.

Again,registration is a Marketing Tool.

with your name, and the model and serial number of the item.

The rest of the stuff they ask isn't necessary for the warranty to be effective.

It's mostly about data collection and they will honor the warranty if you can produce the receipt when it breaks.
