As I listen to the scores of Republican politicians and their paid shills on the TEEVEE Machine

"explaining" how treason isn't treason and obstruction isn't obstruction when a Republican president or one of his spawn do it, I am reminded of a couple of related bits of scatological "wisdom" I picked up during a youth spent on the "wrong side of the tracks".

"You can't polish a turd" and "It is impossible to pick up a turd by the 'clean' end".

There weren't many college graduates among our neighbors, but they were smart enough to recognize the distinctive aroma of bullshit, and "he's not a professional politician", "he's new to this" and "oops! We forgot to disclose this" would have drawn laughs in mixed company and "STFU, you lyin' SOS!" if it was just "the guys".

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
