Australia was dethroned when India whipped her in the semis and host country England also made the finals.
What is fascinating here is that the England men have never won a cricket world title in any form of the game.
England won the toss and are batting. It's not looking good for England so far at 164/6 (38 out of 50 overs) but you never know how India will bat or what the last four can deliver.
Lords is packed which is great for women's cricket and it's amazing to see how many Indian fans are cheering on their team.
Can the English women tear up the books and become the first English team to win a World Cup?
You can watch on ESPN

(19,990 posts)the great NatWest matches of all time, Middlesex v Somerset - Botham, Richards, Garner, Edmonds, Gatting, Emburey etc What a day ! I still have the scorecard (amazing that I could fill it in !).
Great to see Lords packed today, great for Cricket, great for Women's Cricket.
I'll switch between that and Wexford v Waterford played in my newly redeveloped local stadium.

(269,488 posts)Richards are Garner were on one of our great West Indies team. Botham and Richards werethe bad boyz of their time

(19,990 posts)Middlesex finished on 222 for 9, Somerset 222 for 8 with Botham facing the last ball on 96, and for the team he batted down rather than going for the 100. He wasn't to know that even if he was given out, Somerset would have won on a faster run rate anyway.
