Whenever I hear a good quote I jot it down on a post-it. Part of "Clarence Darrow's" speech cited "people who are filled with ignorance, bigotry, and hate". He was referring to anti-Darwin southerners in the 20s who didn't believe in teaching evolution in school. Most of the movie reminded me of what we are once again dealing with in America today. The same attitudes regarding real facts and blind, willful ignorance, and intellectual freedom.

His rock solid base, weaned on 20 years of Faux News, Limbaugh, etc, are beyond hope. Dumber than a mud fence, firm believers in "alternate facts". And largely racist and anti immigrant...even though the vast majority of them and all of us are descendants of immigrants.

They learn it at home and at church.

IMO much of the U.S. will never fully escape its roots in slavery, white supremacy, and "dual cultures" leading to and reinforcing a black-and-white duopoly with limited ideological content.
