"SNIP......
Private talks inside the Trump White House continued to escalate on Monday as a new Washington Post report indicates that the president is also considering Texas Sen. Ted Cruz to replace Jeff Sessions as the attorney general.
According to the report, Cruzs name is one of two individuals the other is former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani, as earlier reporting noted being considered to replace Sessions.
More from the report:
Among the names being floated as possible Sessions replacements are Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and former New York City mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, according to people familiar with the conversations.
Giuliani dismissed a report floating his name as a possible attorney general and told CNN that Sessions made the right decision under the rules of the Justice Department to recuse himself. He did not return a message seeking comment.

(4,677 posts)in recess, 45 could fire Sessions and make a recess appointment of a new AG who would not then need confirmation and could remain in place until 2019.
What an unrelenting nightmare ...

(17,867 posts)He definitely needs someone outside his campaign/inner circle. Why would Cruz take it. A deal for Trump to step aside and support Cruz in 2020?

trump rules thru fear and intimidation, has no clue how inherently unstable revolving doors are in Gov.
One upside is whoever he picks, hopefully Cruz or Guiliani, they will be in a career dead end one way or another.
this is good..very good.
Betcha Cruz knows that.

And Christie's career as a politician is over.
lapfog_1
(29,250 posts)Their loyalty to Trump is not absolute. Cruz will never forgive Trump for the comments Trump made about his father or his wife. Christie is intensely disliked by Jared and was passed over for everything because he put Jared's father in prison.
That leaves one person that Trump would trust to end the Russia investigation... one that he could appoint during the recess.
