I'd say it was mutual, but that implies agreement. Mutual hate, I'm sure.

Tramp abused him until he was forced to resign. IANAL, but this is a constructive termination AFAIK.

5. Yes, both. One way to fire someone is to demand that they resign, or to indicate without coming

right out and saying it that they really need to submit that resignation letter if they don't want the embarrassment of being openly fired.

Usually in politics they let the person submit the resignation and thus claim to have their own reasons for leaving the job, so they will not be humiliated, since humiliating someone you might need on your side later is not a good way to succeed in politics.

But Trump simply cannot refrain from humiliating people. He is all about chimpanzee dominance displays.

the PTB (powers that be) allow one to resign rather than be fired.

I was "terminated" from one job in my career as a high tech executive but I tendered my resignation. Looks better on the resume and "saves face" for all concerned.

In this case, because it is all out in the open, it is clear that he was "fired" but allowed to resign.

He was escorted off Trump's plane and sent away in his own SUV. That sounds like a firing to me, and I am little surprised we didn't find his dead body in the Potomac.
