The groups leading a petition effort to encourage the U.S. Congress to begin impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump had a billboard ad posted Thursday on the road that leads to the billionaires Mar-a-Lago country club in Palm Beach, Florida.
The billboard is emblazoned with the title of the campaigns website, ImpeachDonaldTrumpNow.org, and states: No One Is Above The Law. Not Even The President.
https://twitter.com/impeachdtnow
The billboard is up on Southern Boulevard, which is one street that links directly to Trumps estate. Hes often been criticized for not only spending too much time at Mar-a-Lago but for golfing and vacationing too often. Just recently, Trump wrapped up a 17-day working vacation at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
In a press release, the impeachment campaigners note that the billboard's purpose is to remind the Republican that no one is above the law.
The campaign, which includes national groups like Free Speech For People and RootsAction.org, claims it does not want the president to profit from his time in office at the expense of our democracy, and says a potential congressional impeachment investigation should focus on possible violations of the Emoluments Clause and on whether Trump has obstructed justice.

In the Google photo the billboard advertises a "Mediterranean Steak" from Subway. Maybe we should thank Subway for surrendering that billboard to a much greater purpose.
Shortened link from Bitly that works: http://bit.ly/2vX27bP
Original link that DU forum software won't parse properly:
https://www.google.com/maps/@26.6760855,-80.0725045,3a,30.8y,111.77h,97.35t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1srdGjbfEvv5BQE51YgCjv4w!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
And if Trump's entourage follows the recommended Google Navigation route from Palm Beach International Airport to Mar-A-Lago they will see the billboard. However, they could avoid it by taking a slightly longer route.
Thanks for the info!

(51,674 posts)I get tons of emails a day from groups that want to stop 45 from doing so and so. I wish over 35% of my income didn't go towards my health insur since I would love to be able to donate more. I sign petitions, make phone calls and write emails, etc to resist this vile monster but he is SOOOOO monstrous it takes a lot to knock him down.

(23,368 posts)I'd contribute to one without hesitation. We also pay over a third of our income for health insurance. Ridiculous and frustrating.

(3,433 posts)Leases are usually monthly and can get quite expensive. I have known some to reach 5 figures due to location a Nd length of lease.

(23,368 posts)Makes sense though. It'd have to be a group effort in my neck of the woods.

(32,917 posts)The cost of hanging (posting) the sheets - a onetime charge by the billboard advertising company.
And finally the cost of "leasing" the space on the billboard by the month.
High traffic areas are usually charged more, because they can get it.
It all adds up.

(6,939 posts)And the cash would go to them seeing how easily verifiable it is. They would raise thousands if not tens of thousands and could put up more billboards.
Read who is on their board....damn!

(779 posts)There are also many many things I would like Trump to do (if he was a man) like apology for the Central Park Five, he pushed and pushed for the execution of 5 innocent teenagers and has never been big enough to mention it. Also the birtherism lies he told about Obama, the lies he told about Obama having Trump Tower bugged, and so much stuff. God is my witness, I have so much hate for this man.

(9,426 posts)I LOATHE him and everything he stands for, which is not very much. The only problem I see with the billboard, is the photo. There are so many absolutely vile photos of him I would have chosen. Sideways, with all those chins would be excellent. He seems to think he is good looking, and he is even wrong about THAT. Everyone has heard the expression "Money can not buy happiness" All a person needs to do is look at his wife! Miserable as HELL, unless all the Botox prevents her from smiling.

(20,256 posts)Congress doesn't decide to impeach a President based on a billboard. This just pisses off his base. That money would have been better spent on congressional campaigns so we can flip the House and Senate in 2018.

However billboards across the country, very expensive and not worth the cost.
