This is an important thing to keep in mind when people claim that "demographics is destiny" and we just have to wait for the non-white population to grow and we will win automatically. There is reason to expect non-whites to vote for Republicans in sizeable numbers in the future. White ethnics (Irish, Poles, Italians, etc.) used to be solidly Democratic but have been moving toward the GOP for decades. I suspect something similar will happen with Latinos and Asians although maybe not African-Americans, but you never know. That is why we have to work hard to get our message out there and field good candidates and not just assume that demographics will do the job for us.

I think there are two types of people. The ones who shout it out "Loud and Proud", and the ones who just try to step on the pollster's ankle as they go by. I don't know how much that it represents the actual voting demographics- I'm in the latter class
