NOAA Flight Director: IRMA "Actually Getting Stronger"

From CNN just now.

As it barrels toward Florida it is getting stronger. It is already a Cat 5.

Has the pResident issued any statements to the citizens he swore to protect? Did I miss something? Two hurricanes are following. Where is he?

He's in North Dakota, telling the drought-stricken ranchers to stop whining because Houston's got it worse than they do.

Fuck that guy.

Currently showing 916 - but the issue is that it is missing significant land (thankfully) - center tracked north of Puerto Rico (thankfully) - but the water it is heading toward is even warmer, and shear is low.

Would have been bad for the islands but better for us overall if it at least graced them. Now it seems that it's going to come full on without weakening. That eyewall is going to be a complete 20 mile wide disaster area for 100-200 miles.

Not looking forward to some of the more ominous tracks. Could manage to be a Cat 3 by my reckoning, but Mathew left the floodplains a total wreck last year. A Cat 3 would still be terrible news from rainfall alone.

Tuesday may be OK but the Gov. already set a state of emergency for tomorrow. Maybe if you could bump it up you should try if it's not too costly.

Hopefully it tracks right back out into the Atlantic after doing a small bit of damage to costal FL. That's what I'm praying for.

Was there two weeks ago. Some of the smoke hung around but it wasn't as oppressive as other parts of Montana (or Idaho or Oregon etc.)

So many beautiful things to see there. Loved the geyser basin- it was a nice 1.6 mile walk around one of the boardwalks with tons of steam vents and geysers.

Two more hurricanes form

Right behind Irma -- and taking a similar path -- is Jose. It's too soon to tell if it is headed to the U.S. In the Gulf of Mexico is Hurricane Katia, which is expected to backtrack toward Mexico by Saturday.

For 27 hours now. How can it be so consistant? Shouldn't it fluctuate, at least a liitle bit

And low shear, warm water. Nothing at all. Right up to the FL coast, where the water is even warmer.

Bad news.
