Television meteorologist are talking about Irma the way they did Katrina

That is, forecasters are knocking down any rays of hope that Florida is getting out of this unscathed. Same grim experience. That said, I don't see the same urgency from Floridians as I did New Orleanians.

they will be able to ride it, they know better and the news anchors are exagerating. For their sake, I really hope they are correct. Many people dont realize that the strength of hurricanes is not linear on that scale. cat 5 is way more than 5 times stronger than cat 1.

Hopefully as many as can will evacuate the area.

Irma is going to devastate anything in its path. I read one report comparing the wind speeds to that of an EF4 tornado except tornadoes pass by in just a few minutes...
