Electricity is off and relying on radio. Just heard that the hurricsne path has turned and is coming out way, can someone confirm and provide chart of new path? In the Seminole county area.

Hopefully it has weakened so it won't do much damage. Plus it is moving faster so it won't drop as much rain.

(111,456 posts)It's supposed to go slightly out to sea to the west and hit again where the panhandle parts company with the peninsula, but it's only supposed to be a tropical storm by then. You're still east of the eye wall but you still need to stay safe. The worst winds are to the northeast of the eye.

Best advice if the roof goes is to grab bedding and stay under it in an interior closet or hallway, protecting yourself from any flying debris. People in Homestead in cheaply built houses survived a direct hit from Andrew when they did this.
Problem with this one is that it's so damned big, high winds extend quite far out from the eyewall. Fortunately, she's starting to weaken a little faster.

(32,908 posts)By 9 or 10 a.m. tomorrow Irma should be up to the eastern edge of the panhandle (west of Gainesville.)
Baitball does this help?
Good luck to you and your loved ones.

(46,777 posts)The radio are over-reactions from newbies. Some of the radio announcers that I have been listening to in the last few minutes sound like they are getting it together.

(12,132 posts)across the Cowboys game. Our power has flickered several times but only went out for a half a second at any time. It's pretty windy out there. I'm sure I heard a transformer pop a while ago. Or maybe it was lotters getting shooted.
I'll keep posting as long as I'm up.

(12,132 posts)I don't have one so never considered it. We're just watching TV in the living room and hoping that wind I hear doesn't get freight trainy. If power goes out I guess i better start drinking the beer so it doesn't go bad.

(46,777 posts)Funny story, my hubby was taking a swig of wine whenthe radio guy said that things were going to get tough so it wasn't a good idea to drink until you fall asleep because you may need to be alert, my husband looked at me and reluctantly spit the drink out. Best laugh we had all night,

Just heard a crash and went outside and a big tree limb between our cars. Too dark to see if any damage - but it seemed to be OK. I'll go out later with a flashlight when the rain is slower.
