The most depressing thing about this entire Russian scandal...

...is the realization that there are so many Americans that think so lowly of our country. These are usually the same people that worship their guns and wrap themselves in the American flag.

Their lack of respect for our country is extremely depressing.

But there is no other conclusion to find? Their willingness to disregard a foreign country's interference in our elections. Their willingness to support a crude Mafia-wannabe, who liked to grab women by their pussy, and talked about nuclear weapons as if they were just another gun in the closet.

Their disrespect for our Constitution and our laws, with their willingness to ignore criminal elements and tax cheats, does not show any love for our country. Their willingness to overlook obvious crimes is not something I can personally accept from anyone.

They have disrespected every patriot that has fought and died for this country.

The ones who were the biggest anti-Russia blowhards, who claim to be the true patriots and lovers of the Constitution, just completely ignore the attack on this country!! Remember how Sarah Palin was qualified to be a heartbeat from the Presidency because she could see Russia and would stand up to Putin? They were all so worried about Russia, hated that as SoS Hillary tried to "reset" and improve the US-Russia relationship and accused HER (and BO) of being soft on Russia. And NOW, they are all in on doing NOTHING against the Russians and their tiny handed plant in the White House!!

4. There never has been a love or respect of country from those people.

That's always been a smoke screen for their true feelings which, like Trump, is simply love of self over everything else. If it benefits them it's American and good. If it doesn't, even if it helps others, it's bad and should be eliminated.
The Russian investigation could decrease the power of people that give them things so they are against it.

Listen carefully to what they say - it's always right wing media talking points.

That's the reason comedy news shows work for Dems while fearmongering and lies work for Fox/Limbaugh, I think.

7. Better than Hillary
Wed Sep 20, 2017, 01:50 AM
Sep 2017

I feel like I'm beating my head against the wall when I talk to my 83-year old mom who voted for Trump...and still defends him by saying he is better than Hillary. She lives with me, but stays in her room and watches Faux all day. She is truly brainwashed.

I talk to her everyday about contradictions in their narrative, about logical fallacies that anyone can see, and about obvious slants in the coverage and it falls on deaf ears. No matter what I say, the conversations usually go the same way...if she fails to think of a talking point, and my argument makes sense to anyone who will just stop and think, then she ends with "both sides lie" or "where do you get your information?" of the worst, "he's better than Hillary."

I am angry sometimes, I am sad all the time. They manipulated her into not looking anywhere else. She believes everything they say. She's even outnumbered here, but the brainwashing is complete.

Call her a freeloader and tell her to get a fucking job like everyone else who wants things.

If she protests, tell her you have no choice, because it's what Trump and Sean Hannity would want for her.

Use the parental controls on the cable box and block Fox News and other RW cable channels.

Maybe her watching CNN instead of Fox will deprogram her.

12. My mom changed
Wed Sep 20, 2017, 09:40 AM
Sep 2017

When I was growing up in the 1960s and '70s, my parents instilled in my siblings and me an empathetic view of the world and its people. We were taught to be open-minded and not to judge people by their skin color, nationality, personal wealth or language. My mom was the first in our neighborhood to welcome the first black family to move down the block and quickly made friends with the wife by inviting her to join my mom's bridge club. She got some attitude from some of the other women but she pushed back and insisted that the new neighbor join the card group. Incidentally, their son is still friends with my brother.

When my dad retired, they moved from Connecticut to Pensacola where my mom made friends with the women in their new neighborhood. Obviously, she joined the bridge club and she made lots of new friends. (Keep in mind that Pensacola has lots of military people both active and retired.)

When Barack Obama was elected, my mother said, "It's going to be disgusting when the Obamas waltz into the White House." I was shocked and angered and we had a huge fight about her change of attitude. My dad strongly suggested that I don't talk politics with her and I followed that advice until she passed away.

In the years since, I've pondered her changes many times and have come to one conclusion: she watched Fox News most of the day. That viewing habit, coupled with the influence of her new friends in Florida warped her mind. The mother who raised us would never have insulted the Obamas.

Republicans are destroying the fabric of our great nation.

Very familiar. That's what happened to my 74 year old aunt a couple of years ago. She voted for Obama twice but now is a staunch Trump supporter, championing everything he does. The difference was several widowers who my aunt met and now spends time with. They have brainwashed her and also my aunt doesn't have cable but watches only Channel 7, the local Fox affiliate. From what I've seen, she changes that channel only when the Dolphins play. They are typically on CBS Channel 4.

Before anyone complains about me calling their fathers (or whoever) idiot racist fuckheads, I will offer that the label equally applies to my aunt and my sister who voted for that incompetent fucker.

Your description is precise, but I submit that it's more accurate to say that they don't worship "America" per say but rather their nationalist, cult-like ideal of America. They will follow any leader who convinces them that he's strong, or that he'll fight for their cultish values. Fuck them.

And to my esteemed, lurking readers from the Conservative Shithole and the Disasterist, you can go fuck yourselves as well, you stupid pieces of shit.

They see Putin as some sort of savior against liberalism and degeneracy. They aren't just willfully ignoring Russia's interference, they welcome it.

18. The bigger problem is that a significant amount of them flat out don't believe it
Sat Sep 23, 2017, 02:10 AM
Sep 2017

I mean there are some that believe and disregard it but I think the larger percentage is people who flat out don't believe it happened. They think it is an excuse invented by liberals and the media to pass the buck on their loss.

We have 30%+ of the country operating in a different reality than we do. How do you reconcile that?
