Just stop it! We need to find a new voice.

I read an editorial that pretty much sums up the my distaste for this infighting about Bernie and Hillary supporters.
This was written on the Opinion page of NJ's The Record...(I couldn't find the link, as they have yet to put it online for today), it reads...

"First of all, Bernie Sanders isn't a Democrat, but an independent who ran on the Democrat's line last year. It cost Hillary Clinton the election. "...

(Yes, for many of you, this line alone will cause you refuse to to continue. But I myself, supported Bernie because he seemed to have a good message for us all. I even have the Bert-Ernie for President T-shirt which I wore prior to the Primaries.)

..."Anyone who has read enough of the presidential election obituary knows this. Last time Sanders convinced his followers that they were on their way to free college tuition, knowing full well that ideas are great but implementation not so easy. This time around it it Social Security for all ages and sizes - again the come-one with the same platitudes and no solutions." ...

(Okay, so this guy is not a Bernie supporter but we all know that Bernie supported an idea he believed in and that's enough for us because the man had firm convictions. Only what happened to the college tuition plans? I still believe that was a good idea.)

..."The only thing certain is that Sanders will run again and ruin Democrats chances of unseating the present-do nothing president - whi has disgraced the office. Fool me once, shame on you' fool me twice, shame on me."

When Bernie lost the Primary, I looked at candidate Hillary and question why I didn't fully support her in the beginning. I realized it was from years of negative press starting with her first appearance before Congress on her push for healthcare reform. Then her image was tainted as a neglectful wife because her husband had strayed. I realized that this woman worked very hard and was earnest in her position especially as SoS and the turning point was that picture which showed her studying before a presidential debate. She won my respect and support. I especially didn't want a tRump in office.

If we continue to fight we will be giving tRump another 4 years. I don't think I can stomach more of this as I can't wake up without seeing what news the orange jackass has created overnight. We need to come together to pick new candidate -not Bernie, not Hillary. They are both well qualified but they are now divisive candidates. We need to come together and find someone who will unify us without making promises other than to get rid of the standing shitface we have now. Please, just stop it. The past is past, we need to look forward and towards a future where we can have a country in which I can be a proud citizen of.

Sorry for the rant, but it's been painful to read DU of late when all I see are people tearing it up.

It's not about the candidate, it's about the message. Economic fairness, social justice and human rights for all.

bill which is a trigger for the Graham backlash bill that aims to strip 35 million people of their insurance and protections from the rest of us.

Had he waited until the beginning of October, the Senate would have to have 60 votes to pass this terrible bill but now till the end of September they only need 50 +1. Graham has gone on tv and called his bill the only way to defeat (Bernie's) socialism.

I really wish Bernie would have waited or checked with the Dem leadership before possibly dooming us with graham's terrible bill that's on the verge of passing.

BERNIE IS A WEDGE ISSUE!!!

Never ending war is the main reason my support for the dems has waned over the past two decades. Dem leadership needs to stop being afraid of the right wing media accusing them of not being patriotic & start challenging this idea that never ending war is good for the nation & that blindly voting for it is the patriotic thing to do.

I don't get all the hand wringing on Bernie's Medicare bill. The GOP was going to attack the ACA before month's end, regardless of what anyone else did & the holdouts from before will be the same this time. Get on the phone to Collins, Murkowski & McCain! And don't forget your own senators.

on edit:

Now it all becomes clear!

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2017/09/14/dems-not-backing-medicare-all-get-twice-much-industry-cash-co-sponsors

Dems Not Backing Medicare for All Get Twice as Much Industry Cash as Co-Sponsors
New analysis shows that while Sanders himself gets zero from health insurance industry, co-sponsors of his bill receive half as much as those who remain on the sideline

And a belated welcome to DU. Your message is right-on.

The DU community is too valuable to lose, but if this Bernie-Hillary debate continues, the DU community will lose its unity and support that we have for each other.

I think members should simply boycott every thread that triggers the anger and frustration and that threatens this community.

Don't read it. Move on. And focus on the real issue - a new voice that can bring Democrats together.

I was just so put off with the Him against Her and the opinion piece moved me to post. The message is let's move on and find someone capable. Perhaps I didn't go about it the best way but there's got to be a candidate we can get behind on.

and you didn't even post a link to the entire article so that if those truly were unbalanced selection anyone interested could find the balance.

It sure feels just like all the other posts that bash Bernie (or worship Clinton) and then complain about why Bernie supporters can't get over it and play nicely.

If you truly want to start moving forward, don't start by looking backward and bashing one side.

and stop looking to politicians as saviors? What I find most disturbing about our current politics is the way so many are willing to sublimate themselves to accommodate politicians. We see it in both parties. What happened to self-government? What happened to treating politicians as elected to represent us rather than royalty? The idea that men of power come first, then every word they utter must be justified and that no one can express a word of disagreement about a vote or position is antithetical to democracy.
In my view, it is that more than anything else that threatens democracy in this country. Without a public that values self-government, democracy cannot be maintained. When a public holds men of power above all else, they choose authoritarianism. We know have a public that maintains willful ignorance of civics, despises democratic process, including compromise--and that abhorrence of compromise means a corresponding loathing of one's fellow citizens. There is no way to maintain respect for the rights and lives of others while insisting everything be exactly as you want it. All of those tendencies reveal a deeply authoritarian strain that is emerging as dominant in American political culture.

I'm through with boosterism for politicians. I'm through with looking for "new voices" and saviors. If Americans can't summon enough conviction to exercise their own voices, there is no democratic future for this country. There is far more at stake then the next electoral cycles.
