Chuck Grassley's Quote on Repealing Obamacare is Incredibly Telling

"You know, I could maybe give you 10 reasons why this bill shouldn't be considered," the Iowa Republican said. "But Republicans campaigned on this so often that you have a responsibility to carry out what you said in the campaign. That's pretty much as much of a reason as the substance of the bill."

Just heartbreaking. I guess Grassley is also ready to divert funds to build the wall.

I have grown to actually despise the ground these bastards desecrate by the existence. The French realized there was only one solution.

this is the reason

From The Guardian last June:

Koch network 'piggy banks' closed until Republicans pass health and tax reform

At a weekend donor retreat attended by at least 18 elected officials, the Koch brothers warned that time is running out to push their agenda, most notably healthcare and tax reform, through Congress.

One Texas-based donor warned Republican lawmakers that his “Dallas piggy bank” was now closed, until he saw legislative progress.

“Get Obamacare repealed and replaced, get tax reform passed,” said Doug Deason. “Get it done and we’ll open it back up.”

Nonetheless, Koch officials said that the network’s midterm budget for policy and politics is between $300m and $400m.

Sep 2017

Doesn't even make sense. Nor is it the truth.

Basically he's saying we have to pass something regardless of how awful because . . . promises to the electorate. What he's not saying is promises to the donors, specifically the Koch brothers. I read just yesterday that the Kochs read the riot act to the Republicans during their spring retreat: gut the ACA, pass tax reform/cuts or no money for you.

And I believe I read a headline here at DU that the Kochs were willing to put up $400,000,000 (?) to make that happen. Sounds like a hell of a lot of money to deny 30,000,000+ people healthcare benefits. What am I missing? Maybe it's the whole Libertarian thing that the Koch brothers tie around their necks or that Constitutional Convention they're so eager to push forward because the Constitution is a hard ass document to get around.

Whatever it is, the Republicans know who their true masters are. It's certainly not the American public. Yesterday I read the bill was polling at 24%; the ACA at 52%.

Especially when you get old and surround yourself with similar white rich families and yes-toadies.

Can you imagine one of these shiny-enamel guys saying "You know, I think I was all wrong about this."?

Can you imagine the toady sitting in the white house saying "I was just fuckin with you all to show you how much this government is bought and paid for."?

Grassley can't intellectually change his position since his brain has been programmed to be a repuglican instead of a citizen or a rational human.

Perhaps a massive repuglican brain-fart like that movie "What it's like to be a woman" or some-such would work, but frankly, I don't want those creeps back in the ranks of rational humans anymore. I want them to follow their turtle-necked lemming leader off the cliff (along with any of their spawn).

I worked on a phone bank that called folks in Iowa last fall. Many of the Democratic voters I talked to were going to vote for Hillary, but they were STILL going to vote for Chuck Grassley.

When I read about the Graham--Cassidy bill, I can't help but think--THIS is the way Grassley is going to repay his loyal constituents???

Basically 'It will be a disaster, but we have to obey the Will of the People (a vote that would never be sufficient for a constitutional amendment in any other country), so it has to go ahead, and I have to help enforce it!'

Why elect politicians at all if they have to leave their brains behind the moment they enter office?!

As Gilbert and Sullivan noted in the 19th century:

'When in that House MPs divide,
If they've got a brain, and a cerebellum too,
They have to leave that brain outside,
And vote just as their leaders tell 'em too!'
