Trump thinks son-in-law Jared Kushner is giving him bad political advice: Reportby Caitlin Yilek | Nov 1, 2017, 2:11 PM
President Trump thinks White House adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner is giving him bad political advice as special counsel Robert Muellers investigation into Russias meddling in the 2016 election heats up.
Trump told former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon that he blames Kushner for the firings of former national security adviser Mike Flynn and former FBI Director James Comey, Vanity Fair reported Wednesday.
Comeys firing led to the appointment of Mueller as special counsel. Kushner reportedly pushed for Comeys dismissal as he investigated possible collusion between Trumps campaign and Russia.
Jared is the worst political adviser in the White House in modern history, former Trump campaign aide Sam Nunberg told the publication.
Im only saying publicly what everyone says behind the scenes at Fox News, in conservative media, and the Senate and Congress, he added.

(53,978 posts)I mean who would buy a building with an address of 666?
That's just asking for trouble, and trouble it is.

(22,074 posts)Years ago, my ex-wife worked in 666 Fifth Avenue. The building was lovely with a wonderful street-level public atrium that ran through the building from 52nd Street to 53rd Street. One wall of the atrium was a waterfall and the white noise would cancel out the street sounds.
On the top floor was an excellent restaurant called Top of the Sixes. Their happy hour ran from 4:30 till 7:30 and they had a very large, free buffet, (as long as you were buying drinks).
This was all before the 9/11 terrorist attacks and I think the atrium has been closed off. I don't know if there's still a restaurant but the building has serious problems finding tenants. I hope Kushner gets killed when his loans come due.
brush
(53,978 posts)he can't fill it with tenants and millions of debt payments are due in Jan.
666? Come on. He was crazy to buy that building, as if buying the Observer, a newspaper, when the newspaper industry is cratering wasn't enough poor business acumen.
And the fact that trump put him in charge of the world, just about, says as much about trumps' business sense as it does Kushner's.

(22,074 posts)It's three integers. I find it weird that people are nervous about certain numbers.
For example, many buildings don't have a thirteenth floor; often, one bank of elevators will go from 1-12 with another bank from 14 on up. And basements are NEVER given a negative number, instead they get letters like B, SB or SSB.
Neil deGrasse Tyson makes these points effectively:
"What does it say for our future when we have people afraid of a number?"
Regardless, I hope Kushner loses his ass with that building. Like other stupid things he's done, it will illustrate that he's just like his father-in-law:
HE'S AN IDIOT!
brush
(53,978 posts)to invest in in the NYC area, why buy one with that number even if you don't believe what 666 allegedly symbolizes?
Other people like tenants, possible investment partners and others do.
Spend the money somewhere else.
PJMcK
(22,074 posts)Isn't that a fable from the Iron Age?
Of course, I know the Revelations verse about the sign of the beast. My observation is that people have nothing to fear from numbers. Kushner's building isn't evil and it's primitive to think that the address welcomes Satan into its lobby.
brush
(53,978 posts)may shy away from?
In a multi-million dollar purchase like that you want as large a pool of prospective tenants and investment partners as possible.
Not rocket science.

So, apparently the opioid epidemic is over with now, because Donnie made a speech about it! Thank the flying spaghetti monster for that! Problem solved, and without Jared's help.

(29,243 posts)Flynn had to be fired... his connections to Russia and Turkey were going to come out and he would have lost his security clearance anyway... or Trump would have had to personally reinstate it and it would all be made public and Flynn would have to go anyway.
As for Comey... yes firing Comey led to Mueller being appointed, but does anyone think that Comey's investigation would NOT have turned up all the crap that is floating to the top of this cesspool?
Optics looked bad for firing Comey. It might lead to an obstruction charge. Unlikely that will be enough to bring down trump. Collusion, money laundering, illegal loans from Russian mobsters... that will bring down trump. Comey would have found all of that anyway.
brush
(53,978 posts)Who's to say he wouldn't have cleared trump?
Whatever the case, trump foolishly put Kushner in positions wa-a-a-a-a-y over his head.
much like most of his appointments to the cabinet and senior WH staff.
Kushner and Ivanka should never have been near the White House.
But Bannon is just trying to get some revenge for his own firing.

(14,180 posts)I trust Mueller 1000x more than Comey with this kind of investigation. Maybe I shouldn't as Mueller is also a registered Republican. But at least there is no proof of bias like there is with Comey. Trump freaked out by things like Comey not swearing a loyalty blood oath to him and keeping notes in the WH which he took as disrespecting his authoroutaaaaaay. But when push came to shove, Comey had already proven his loyalty to his party. He had a better shot with Comey in charge.
Jared is the worst political adviser in the White House in modern history,
lol. Maybe its because he's never had any experience and was hired off the street based on being married to his favorite and hottest daughter.

(3,867 posts)Just imagine what Kushners daily schedule is going to be like:
9:00-9:30: Fox and Friends debrief.
9:30-10:00: Provide broadband internet service to entire nation.
10:00-11:00: Stop working on providing broadband internet service to entire nation to focus on just providing it to entire government first.
11:00-11:30: Elevensies.
11:30-1:00: Working lunch to solve the intractable Israel-Palestine peace process that adults in government have been working on to no avail for decades.
1:00-1:30: What do you mean there are other places in the Middle East that need tending to? FFS, people, I cant possibly do everything!
1:30-2:00: Daily I cant possibly do everything meeting with POTUS. POTUS reminds Kushner that the AHCA went down because he was off in Aspen, skiing.
2:00-2:15: Cancel all skiing vacations for the foreseeable future.
2:15-2:30: Search for another samovar of coffee to push through the rest of the afternoon.
2:30-3:30: Develop one transformative project for America under the banner of Trumps $1 billion infrastructure program.
3:30-3:45: Meeting with POTUS to discuss transformative project. POTUS says there is still something missing.
3:45-4:15: WHAT IS IT MISSING? COME ON KUSHNER, THINK! YOU CAN DO THIS.
4:15-4:30: Trumps name added to transformative project. POTUS signs off.
4:30-4:45: A brief wander through the White House. How did it come to this? Didnt life used to be so much simpler? I could have done anything. I really would have liked to own the Dodgers. Oh, man, the crack of bat, fists pounding on leather, the scents of an afternoon ballgame? Heaven is a patch of well-manicured grass, the cheers of the crowd, fathers in the upper decks teaching their freckle-faced kids how to score the game, and nothing but the expanse of a hazy Southern California afternoon ahead of you. That should have been me. Thats what I was meant to do. How did I end up here? I only vaguely remember: My name, shouted in a certain dawn a message a summons There must have been a moment, at the beginning, where I could have said no. But somehow, I missed it.
4:45-6:00: Fix the VA system, the opioid crisis, streamline government, and maybe do some trade stuff?

(19,205 posts)Trump will disavow any knowledge of Kushner. "He was a low level son-in-law. I barely knew him. I doubt I could pick him out in a crowd. He brought me covfefe every once in a while."
Who could have known that someone with absolutely no governmental experience could fuck things up so badly? Only about 65,853,516 people, that's all.

I honestly did not think he would turn on Jared. Is Ivanka next?
No sentient being would get into his orbit now. Which means 3 years of people WORSE than Jaren and Manafort.
I think he can go lower (the Vanity Fair article quotes someone as saying his approval number are at 33% and you can't go lower than that. I want 27%. I want him lower than Cheney)
