Westchester County (NY) Executive: Democratic challenger with slight lead over incumbent.

The candidates for Westchester County executive are in a statistical dead heat with days left before the election, according to a poll released today.

Democratic challenger George Latimer led Incumbent Republican Rob Astorino 46 percent to 43 percent, which is within the 4 percentage point margin of error for the poll.

Eleven percent of poll respondents said they were still unsure whom they’d vote for if the election were held today.

The poll was conducted by the consulting firm, Applied Technonomics, and senior adviser Jeanne Zaino, a political science professor. It was sponsored by The Journal News/lohud and the local television station RNN.

"I think the fact that it was at a dead heat this late in this game, and given the stories that have been going out the last week or so in particular, that was a surprise to me," Zaino told The Journal News.
